Angelo felt too guilty to listen any longer. Impatiently, he snapped at his mom, “Mom, I need to rest. Get her out of here”

Joanna stormed out in a huff after hearing her son’s words.

The ward had six beds, and the others were all watching the drama unfold. When they heard this, they started murmuring among themselves:

A person asked, “Is this for real? What a mess!”

Another said, “He’s got a girlfriend but still chases other girls? What’s his deal?”

“Cut the crap!” Angelo snapped, his face darkening. “She’s spouting pure nonsense. Not a single word from that woman is true. And you actually buy that?”

Angelo’s sharp rebuke instantly silenced the other patients in the ward.

Valerie had injured her back, making daily routines like changing clothes or using the bathroom a struggle. She gingerly eased herself off the bed, and just as her toes had barely touched the floor, the door suddenly swung open.

Valerie was so startled that her feet slipped and she lost her balance, tumbling back onto the bed.

Her lower back felt like it was snapping in two.

Valerie gasped as tears welled up from the sharp pain, her entire body trembling uncontrollably.

Startled, Aiden immediately rushed over and scooped her up, carefully supporting her by the waist to steady her. “You’ll be able to go home tomorrow,” he said gently, “Once we’re back, I’ll set up a bedside commode to make things easier for you.”

“No way!” Valerie immediately shook her head. “I just hurt my back, I’m not crippled! I won’t have it!”

Valerie thought to herself, ‘Maybe something convenient? Like a bedpan? Or even a urinal? Just thinking about it is so embarrassing!‘

Seeing Valerie’s cheeks flush bright red, a faint smile flashed in Aiden’s eyes. He gently scooped her up and carried her to the bathroom. Bending down, he planted a soft kiss on her cheek and whispered, “Just call me when you’re done.”

Valerie was careful not to make any noise. After finishing in the bathroom and making sure she was properly dressed, she finally called out softly, “I’m done.”

Aiden returned, gently pushed the door open, and carefully helped Valerie into her pants before wrapping her tenderly in his arms.

His arms were strong yet steady, supporting Valerie without jostling her injured back in the slightest.

Suddenly, the door was flung open.

Startled, Valerie flinched as a sharp pain shot through her injured back.

Aiden immediately shielded his wife, his expression darkening abruptly. Turning back, he saw Kelly returning in tears, her eyes brimming with grievance as she cried out, “Valerie!”

But the moment Kelly stepped in, she froze, Aiden was there.

Aiden’s towering figure stepped protectively in front of Valerie. For a moment, Kelly was so stunned she forgot to cry, her eyes wide with disbelief. “Bro? What are you doing here?” she blurted out.

Aiden’s face darkened instantly. Gritting his teeth, he growled, “Get out now.”
