Valerie glared at Juliette, her voice trembling with anger. “You claimed you gave me your clothes, but you conveniently left out that they were just your ill–fitting castoffs. I was taller than you, so they barely covered anything. And thanks to your constant bragging, the orphanage gave the winter coat that should have been mine to other kids. I froze so badly that I had frost cracks all over my body.”
Juliette’s heart pounded wildly.
Juliette thought, ‘That’s right. I did it on purpose.
‘The orphanage’s supplies are fixed, so why should Valerie get to wear brand–new clothes that actually fit her?
‘If I can’t have them, neither can she!‘
Her lips twisted in a cold sneer as Valerie spoke. “You said you went to your uncle and aunt to ask for my tuition, but why didn’t you mention… because of your words, they hung me up and beat me in the yard, accusing me of making you steal money. I kept crying, saying I didn’t do it, but they still left me hanging there all day. In the end, the orphanage director had to give them 70 dollars to settle it. You were the one who stole the money, but I was the one who got beaten. Do you even remember that?”
Valerie’s words darkened Camren’s expression, and a sharp pain twisted in his long–dormant heart.
A sharp gasp escaped from the crowd as someone stared at Juliette in disbelief. “No way, is that true?”
Another asked, “Is that for real?”
“Yeah, I knew Miss Shelton got lost when she was a kid, but… this is just too much,” someone muttered, unable to hide their shock.
Juliette couldn’t bring herself to look at Valerie. Hearing the murmurs around her, her heart raced as she immediately shot back, “That never happened! You’re making this up!”
Valerie curled her lips into a faint, cold smile and said calmly, “You know better than anyone if you’re lying, but let’s put that aside for now. Maybe you didn’t realize, there are surveillance cameras here.”
Juliette’s heart lurched, her body instantly stiffening as a flash of panic crossed her face.
Naturally, her reaction was barely noticeable.
Camren, standing closest to her, immediately noticed her unease. As he realized what it meant, his heart sank like a store.
‘Was Juliette really lying just now?‘ Camren thought.
Juliette’s panic began to rise. Almost without thinking, her eyes darted around, searching for the surveillance cameras.
Before she could see anything, Juliette inadvertently caught a glimpse of the troubled look on Colette’s face. Her heart skipped a beat.
Colette was swayed by Valerie’s words. She was starting to believe Valerie now.
The moment Juliette realized this, sheer panic seized her.
Someone said, “Who would install surveillance cameras at home?”
Juliette felt a bit more at ease when she noticed there weren’t any security cameras around. She snapped angrily, “Cameras? Even better! If there are any, let’s check the footage, that’ll clear everything up!”
A person said, “Exactly! If there are surveillance cameras, let’s check the footage!”
“But I don’t see any security cameras around here,” someone remarked.

Someone else said, “This is just the Shelton family’s own living area, there are no hazards or valuables here. Why would anyone bother installing
surveillance cameras?”

Juliette regained her composure, fixed Valerie with a defiant stare, and pressed forward aggressively. “If there really are surveillance cameras, then show us the footage, so no one can say I’m making false accusations!”
As Juliette spoke, tears were already streaming down her face again.
Valerie looked down at her, descending the steps one by one with measured calm. Just then, Russell emerged from the side with a conflicted look and said, “There are no surveillance cameras, but I recorded the whole thing myself.”
Juliette was utterly stunned.
‘When on earth did Russell get here?‘ Juliette thought in shock.
Valerie, on the other hand, remained perfectly composed, her expression unshaken, as if she had known he was there all along.
Camren’s face darkened. Colette demanded sharply, “Russell, what were you doing there?”
Jack frowned at his grandson. “What exactly happened here?”
Russell looked conflicted. “I came looking for Valerie earlier. She looked absolutely stunning from this angle, so I tried to snap a candid photo of her. But then Juliette showed up.” He cast a complicated glance at Juliette and sighed. “Look, Valerie didn’t push her down.”
His words stunned everyone.
Someone in the crowd blurted out, “Are you saying Juliette is lying?”
Someone in the crowd retorted, “Come on, we all saw it with our own eyes, how could it possibly be fake?”
“Come on! You think one sentence is enough to clear her name? Everyone knows you brought her here, and you two are obviously tight. Show us the video first, then we’ll talk!”
Juliette’s face drained of color as she stared at Russell, utterly unable to tell if he was telling the truth or just bluffing. She wondered, ‘Is he really telling the truth, or is this just a trick?
‘When on earth did Russell get here? I haven’t noticed him at all!
‘Besides, Russell and Valerie are so close. It’s entirely possible he fabricated a fake video just to intimidate me into backing down…!
Juliette’s shifting expressions and the stiffness in her body didn’t escape Camren’s notice.
Camren became even more certain of his suspicion. ‘Juliette was indeed lying!‘ he thought.
Russell hesitated. Colette snorted and ordered, “Show it, Russell.”
“Wait,” Camren commanded in a deep voice. “Let it be. After all, she’s our guest.”
“Camren?” Russell looked conflicted.
“Show the video,” Valerie said, “Without it, you won’t convince anyone.”
