Chapter 190
Chapter 190
Craig asked, “Why was she only adopted in her teens?”
Russell said, “I don’t know, never asked. How about I invite Valerie over so you can talk to her yourself?”
Craig eagerly agreed, “Absolutely!”
Russell was a bit taken aback by how unusually eager his uncle seemed.
Russell had never seen his uncle, who was always so nonchalant about everything, take the initiative to ask about anything before. This was the first time, and it genuinely caught him off guard.
Russell quickly headed backstage to look for Valerie..
But Valerie moved fast, she was nowhere to be found backstage, having vanished without a trace.
By the time Russell had finished looking around, Jack had just found Colette.
Colette really did start to see Valerie in a new light, though her feelings were more complicated than simple admiration.
Colette felt a strange mix of emotions as she watched Valerie. Hearing those around her repeatedly mentioning Elsie, she realized, to her own surprise, that she simply couldn’t bring herself to dislike Valerie anymore.
To her own surprise, she too began to see the resemblance between Valerie and her long–lost daughter.
“My dear…” Jack said with mixed emotions, “Don’t you think…”
Colette glanced at her husband but didn’t pick up on his words. Instead, she asked, “Where’s Juliette?”
Speaking of Juliette, Jack suddenly recalled the wrongs she had suffered at the hands of Valerie, and his brow immediately furrowed in concern.
No one could find Juliette. The Shelton family had people searching everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, Juliette was on the stairs behind the Shelton family’s party hall.
She had gotten caught in the rain earlier today. At first, she felt fine, but after that terrifying bouquet incident, her mind grew hazy. Now she felt dizzy, her vision swimming.
The moment she realized it was Valerie who had exposed her situation to Vernon, her blood boiled,
Juliette seethed inwardly, ‘Such a bitch! A total bitch!
‘Back then, I could have hooked up with Rowan. I finally managed to get close to him, but Valerie had me arrested. Not only did I lose Rowan, but I was also completely cut off from the entire social circle of wealthy heirs.
‘Not only that, but at the Clark family’s party, Valerie set me up, and because of her, I was raped by two men…
“Valerie!” Juliette screamed.
Valerie was on the stairs, talking to Adrienne on the phone, when she heard Juliette’s shout. Her brows furrowed slightly.
Valerie whirled around to find Juliette’s face contorted with rage, her eyes bloodshot as she charged at her, spittle flying. Juliette shrieked, “You bitch! Why the hell would you do this to me?”
Valerie’s brows furrowed even deeper. She quickly said to Adrienne, “I’ll call you back,” hung up, then turned fully to face Juliette. “What exactly did I do?” she asked coolly.

Juliette’s eyes blazed red with fury as she screamed, “How dare you ask! You’re the one who exposed my comfortable life to my uncle and aunt, didn’t you?”
Valerie scoffed in amusement. “Why would I do that?”
Juliette burst into tears, her voice shaking with rage. “You just can’t stand to see me happy, can you, Valerie? Look what you’ve done to me! You’ve ruined my life. What more do you want? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be drowning in debt! It was you, wasn’t it? You stole my identity to take out loans! Because of you, I get harassing calls every day, loan sharks hunting me down, I had to pay 30 thousand dollars just to make it stop!”
Only then did Valerie remember the incident.
When Valerie first time–traveled to this world, Juliette fell in with a bunch of spoiled rich kids. To keep up with their lavish lifestyle, she shamelessly demanded money from Valerie again and again, thousands of dollars at a time, acting like it was her birthright.
Valerie wasn’t going to spoil Juliette anymore. But when Juliette kept claiming it was a matter of life and death if she didn’t get the money, Valerie simply took out loans in Juliette’s name, leaving her to deal with the debt herself.
Juliette glared at Valerie, her voice trembling with rage. “So it v you do this to me?”
as
s you! I actually thought it was Uncle and Aunt, I never once suspected you! How could
Valerie said coolly, “Money doesn’t grow on trees. I’m not your mother, why should I indulge you?”
Juliette laughed bitterly and shouted, “See? These are your true colors! All that gentle, caring, kind–hearted act, it was all fake! Valerie, you’re wicked to
the core!”
Valerie couldn’t be bothered with her nonsense. She shot her a cold glance and said, “Did you track me down just to say this?”
Juliette sobbed, her voice raw with fury. “As if that wasn’t enough, Valerie? I’ve always known you couldn’t stand to see me happy, but I never thought you’d stoop this low! Do you even know what Vernon did to me?”
Juliette frantically gripped the railing, tears streaming down her face. Sobbing and screaming, she choked out, “To make me pay up, he almost… he almost sexually assaulted me! Did you… even know that?”
Valerie was stunned.
Vernon was Juliette’s cousin and a childhood playmate of hers and Valerie’s.
Sobbing uncontrollably, Juliette lunged at Valerie and screamed, “It’s all your fault! All your fault!”
Juliette charged at her with terrifying fury. Standing at the top of the stairs, Valerie’s eyes widened in alarm as she saw Juliette coming and instinctively dodged aside.
Propelled by her own momentum, Juliette suddenly lost her balance. Terror seized her as she let out a piercing scream, “No!”
Her scream was so piercing, it seemed it could pierce right through the roof.
Startled, Valerie cried out, “Juliette!”
But it was too late, Juliette tumbled down the stairs like a ragdoll, her limbs flailing wildly.
Her piercing scream brought a crowd running to the scene.
A person asked, “What happened? What’s going on?”
Another said, “What’s going on?”
A third said, “Oh my god! Someone just fell down the stairs!”
Someone else said, “It’s Juliette! Juliette!”
