Chapter 187
Chapter 187
Russell knew who it was the moment he heard the voice. He asked curiously, “Thomas, is Grandpa looking for me?” Thomas was his grandfather’s long time, fully trusted assistant.
Russell did not get a response. As he stepped out, he saw Thomas standing at the door, his face dark with displeasure. He gave Russell a grim look and said, “Miss Shelton just shared quite a few things with us.”
‘Miss Shelton? Juliette?‘ Russell wondered, puzzled.
Russell shot him a puzzled look. Thomas did not intend to explain further. He quickly waved his hand, signaling Russell to follow, and led him away.
Thinking something was up, Russell called out to Valerie, “Valerie, I’ll be right back.” Valerie acknowledged and stayed in the music room.
Valerie was not alone in the music room. Many knew Colette loved music, so they came prepared to perform for her. Some even hired an entire orchestra, treating her to a live symphony performance right on the spot.
All the musicians inside could not help but steal a few glances at Valerie as she walked in. She was too stunning to ignore.
Valerie had only come in to tune the instruments. She soon finished the tuning, but as she was about to leave, she noticed a girl of about 16 or 17 puzzling over a note. She was trying to figure out ways to fix it.
Valerie paused beside her and suggested, “Maybe try changing the last note to a G. It might sound a bit better.”
The little girl was stunned slightly and immediately made the change. When she tried it out, the effect was way beyond her expectations.
Her eyes lit up with joy, but when she turned to thank her, Valerie was already gone.
“That’s amazing!” the girl’s friends gasped. “She just heard it once, but she could give you such precise advice. She must be incredibly skilled!”
One of the girls chimed in, “I just heard her play the piano. She’s seriously amazing!”
“Don’t you guys know? That’s Valerie, the one our teacher always holds up as an example. We’ve been constantly made to practice the songs she composes. How could you forget?”
The girls were even more stunned, exchanging glances as a sense of defeat suddenly washed over them.
They were all younger than Valerie, b
none dared claim they could ever reach her level of achievement when they reached her age.
As Valerie stepped out of the venue, she noticed the way people, especially the elders, looked at her had changed.
‘Compared to the playful teasing when they thought I was Russell’s girlfriend, now, unless it’s just my imagination, their eyes seemed to be sizing me up, even… showing a hint of disgust,” she thought.
“Hey, is that Valerie?” The voice sounded familiar, with hints of pleasant surprise. Valerie looked over and recognized Samantha, the girl she had met just a few days ago.
Samantha was exquisitely dressed today, beaming as she walked over to Valerie, with a few girlfriends following behind.
These young ladies all looked like well–bred daughters from prestigious families, smiling politely as they chatted with each other. Seeing Valerie, they could not help but be curious.
Samantha quickly introduced Valerie to the group. Valerie smiled in return and said, “Nice to meet you all.”
Just then, a girl leaned in with a mischievous grin and whispered, “Here she comes! Here she comes!”
The girl who spoke was Cindy Crawford. Following her gaze, Valerie saw Juliette appear, arm in arm with Colette.

Chapter 187
Colette beamed with affection as she held Juliette’s hand, chatting warmly with the people behind her. Juliette followed at her side, looking sweet. Whatever she said, the elders around them chuckled merrily, completely charmed by her.
“Disgusting.”
“What a shameless bitch.”
“She’s damn annoying.”
“Just seeing her face pisses me off.”
“Exactly.”
Valerie was confused.
Samantha tugged at Valerie’s sleeve and whispered, “Did you see that Juliette over there? She’s the Shelton family’s long–lost daughter. They just found her and brought her back recently.”
Valerie nodded, knowing that no one knew her better than she did.
Samantha whispered, “When she first came back, my mom told us to spend time with her and even hosted an afternoon tea just for her.
“But guess what happened? She thought she was something, picking on all things like she was above everyone else. She acted even more spoiled than we, the real heiresses.
“The other day, I accidentally spilled coffee on her and stained her dress. I apologized, but maybe I was dressed too casually, and she thought I was some waitress or something.
“She sneered and said, ‘Can you even afford this? A pauper like you could work your whole life and still not be able to pay for this dress.” I was speechless, so I just slapped my bank card right in her face.
“But around the elders, she turns into this meek little lamb. She’s really two–faced.”
One of the girls scoffed, “The long–lost heiress got used to being uncultured while she was out there. Now she comes back reeking of nouveau riche.
Disgusting.”
“However, the Shelton family members just keep defending her. It’s driving me nuts!”
Their lively discussion quickly drew curious glances from many in the surroundings.
Juliette soon noticed Valerie standing with Samantha’s group. ‘How on earth does Valerie know them?‘ she wondered, a flicker of unease flashing through her mind.
Juliette could not help but wonder, “Samantha and Cindy are the darlings of the elders, especially Grandma. How on earth did Valerie get to know
Samantha?
‘But Valerie has never been to Endver City, has she?‘
