Hearing those words, many gasped. This was not a secret in business circles. Although the Wayne Group could not match the four major families in Endver City, it was still a major local power.
After taking office, Aiden did not make any moves in Reano City. Instead, he extended his hand to Endver City and completely crushed the Wayne Group.
The news shocked the business circle, leaving everyone wary of the newly appointed heir of the Walker family.
The truth proved the case to be a success, and Russell did not even need to elaborate. Just a brief mention was enough for everyone to immediately know who this man was and to instinctively keep their distance with a sense of wariness.
Aiden had no interest in the younger generation. He merely glanced at Russell calmly. Russell gave a cheeky grin, leaned in toward Valerie, and asked softly, “Are you alright?”
Valerie shook her head and said, “I brought a gift for Grandma.”
“Hey, your presence is sufficient. There’s no need to bring anything,” Russell said, but still taking over the present. Then, with a teasing grin, he added,
“Just one?”
Russell shot a slightly disdainful glance at the man behind her, Aiden, but did not dare say anything.
Valerie chuckled and said, “My husband and I come as a package deal. How many gifts are you expecting?”
Russell was clearly trying to stir the pot. He shot Aiden a disdainful look and said, “Alright, quickly come over I’ve got your instrument all set up.”
“Sure,” Valerie replied.
Russell rarely showed such warmth to anyone, let alone in front of so many people. His concern and eagerness were completely unguarded.
The Shelton family elders looked on in amazement. Some even mistook her for Russell’s girlfriend and teased with a smile, “You two do look like a married couple!”
Hearing those words, everyone turned around to look at them. ‘True enough, at first glance, Russell and that girl with the ethereal aurá, Valerie, really did bear a striking resemblance,‘ they thought.
But almost immediately, someone clarified, “She’s already married, and her husband is standing right there with them.”
The elders, though disappointed, dropped the matter, but they still could not help asking around about the background of the girl with their boy.
Seeing Russell treat Valerie so warmly, Juliette’s heart filled with resentment. ‘He’s never treated me like that since I came back to the Shelton family‘ she thought bitterly.
Juliette glared resentfully at their retreating figures and soon, a sinister plan formed in her mind.
The reason Russell brought Valerie to this event was precisely because Colette had many descendants. Standing out in such a setting could easily lead to recognition, promotion, and greater achievements.
‘So, if I ruin Valerie’s chances at the root, how could Valerie ever rise to prominence?‘ she thought.
At her advanced age, Colette had little desire for birthday celebrations. But the thought of her beloved granddaughter finally coming home made her eager to introduce the girl to everyone.
Right then, Colette and Jack were sitting together, chatting with their friends. During the conversation, they could not help but look around, eager to spot their precious granddaughter.

Juliette entered with a sweet smile, calling “Grandpa” and “Grandma” over and over, buttering up the elderly couple until their faces lit up with delight.
Gathered together, besides the two elders, were also their protégés and peers. Juliette had just taken her seat when she heard them start talking about
Valerie.
“Hey, I just saw Russell take a girl into the music room. Is she his girlfriend?” someone asked.
One of them said, “No, that girl’s married. I heard she’s a musician at Russell’s company now. He just brought her here to introduce her to everyone.”
‘Well, Russell’s company is shaping up. With looks like hers, if this musician ever goes into showbiz, she’ll be a star in no time, won’t she?”
Hearing this, Juliette gritted her teeth and tears rolled down her face. “So what if she’s pretty? Because of her, I almost didn’t make it back home alive,”
she said.
No one expected Juliette to burst into tears so suddenly. Everyone was startled and quickly gathered around to comfort her, asking, “What’s the matter?”
Juliette cried harder, saying, “Valerie and I… We were best friends. We grew up together, ever since we were little…”
Juliette tearfully recounted everything, from their heartwarming childhood memories to how Valerie had schemed for years to ruin her. She claimed Valerie forced her to kneel in humiliation before a crowd, making her the laughingstock.
The more Juliette spoke, the harder she cried. Her heartbreaking sobs melted the elders‘ hearts.
At her advanced age, Colette lived only for her family, especially this precious granddaughter she felt indebted to for so many years.
Hearing those words, her heart shattered into pieces. The pain was unbearable, and tears instantly rolled down her face.
She burst into tears and pulled Juliette into her arms. “My poor Juliette!” she cried. “I had no idea you suffered so much out there. It’s all my fault. My poor, dear child…”
Juliette sobbed so intensely that, in the end, she choked up and could not utter a word.
The elders gathered around were all renowned masters in the music world and long–time friends of Colette. They grew increasingly furious as they listened to Juliette. One after another, they roared, “How outrageous!”
“That girl is truly poison, a real devil! This wicked woman deserves to be ruined.”
One of the elders reached out to comfort Juliette, saying, “Don’t worry, Juliette. Your grandparents will make her pay for this!”
One of the elders asked angrily, “Does Russell know what she really is?”
Juliette shook her head, sobbing. “Russell has no idea what she’s really like… I just can’t bring myself to tell him…” she said.
