Only after Liam went into the house did he realize the space that Andrea used to live in was actually the toilet. It was so small that she wouldn't have been able to stretch her legs. Her parents had already thrown out her bedding and everything else, so there was only a small bed frame. Beside the window was a row of her belongings.
If it weren't for her parents' short stature, it was likely that all these things would have been thrown out.
The couple saw Liam barge into their house and instantly became annoyed. They picked up a stick nearby and rushed toward him.
"Who the hell are you?! Leave right now! Did that bitch, Andrea, bribe you to attack us?! Get out! Get the hell out!"
"The little slut is probably scared of us. That's why she hasn't come back. Ha! Do you think we're scared of you? We'll still beat the shit out of you!"
Liam was still feeling upset and thrashed everything that was in his way. Then, he tiptoed to grab Andrea's belongings.
Andrea's father raised his wooden stick, aiming it at Liam's head.
As Liam was about to reach the little bottle that contained the tooth, he didn't have time to duck. But the stick did not land on him; it was stopped in mid-air by Grace.
The man was just a showy figurehead. He didn't have a job. Besides drinking, he just beat his wife and daughter. His strength was nothing much.
Grace pushed the stick away, causing the man to fall down. He landed on his bottom and winced in pain.
Only then did he notice that there was another person in the room. When he saw Grace, his eyes lit with excitement. What a beauty!
He had another hobby—he loved calling for hookers!
There was a red light district in the slums, full of women who charged very little. They didn't care if they had diseases; all they wanted was to earn some money. Every man would go there to find a woman once he had some money in his pockets.
When the man saw Grace, his arousal piqued. He stood up and lunged at Grace. "Hello, pretty lady. How much do you charge for a night?"
Grace gave him a kick on the stomach, her voice cold. "Five thousand for a night of mourning. Interested?"
Maybe it was the terrifying look in her eyes, but the man stayed on the ground, not daring to say anything more.
On the other hand, his wife mustered the courage to curse, but once Grace gave her a glare, she cowardly lowered her head again.
They were the most ordinary of parents. Not only had they been spineless their whole lives, but the moment they saw some use in their daughter, they oppressed and used her to the brink of exhaustion. Growing up in such an environment, it was natural that Andrea would be short-sighted.
But Grace couldn't feel any sympathy in her heart because she still didn't know that Andrea was dead.
Seeing that Liam had obtained the small bottle with the tooth, she finally asked, "Are you done? If so, let's go back."
It was now past midnight. His birthday was over.
Liam was speechless.
The two walked back to the car along the way they had come. The lights were still dim along the way, and the surrounding trees made sharp sounds in the wind, making the atmosphere somewhat desolate.
When they were just about to get into the car, Grace heard Liam say, "Grace, I feel sorry for Andrea and the child."
She then looked at Liam, who was standing a few steps away from the group.
Liam lowered his head to look at the bottle with the tooth. His expression was unreadable, and it looked as if he was about to merge with the darkness of the night.
Those words that were said in the car had been the last straw for Liam.
Grace was surrounded by a dozen people, and with weapons in their hands, Grace knew not to act rashly. She could only look at Liam.
But he had already turned his back on her and was walking to the car. This time, he wasn't joking.
