Liam suddenly placed his head on the steering wheel, his voice full of mockery.
"Grace, Andrea is such a selfish person, isn't she? So much so that you think it's not worth doing anything for her. That's what you think, isn't it?"
Grace kept quiet. Even if Andrea had some good qualities, it didn't change the fact that she was indeed a selfish person.
Liam looked exhausted, the corners of his mouth trembling. "Forget it. Just get out of the car."
Grace felt a wave of sorrow and couldn't be bothered to talk to him anymore, so she opened the car and walked out.
Liam said that people were waiting for her, but after walking in the dark for a few yards, she did not see anyone. Instead, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned back and saw that it was just Liam. He followed her quietly behind, keeping some distance between them.
It was like the day she had gone looking for him when he went missing in the snow. Both had been stubbornly angry, so they just ignored each other.
After walking another few blocks, she finally saw a string of lights. She was somewhat surprised and only noticed then that there were people around. But because the houses were low and hidden by the shade of the trees around them, she couldn't see them before.
Liam caught up at this moment, and he spoke in a calm voice.
"This is where Andrea's parents live. It's not far from the slums of Druville, but in comparison, this place is even more deserted."
After saying that, he continued walking before stopping. His tone was still calm and casual. "Grace, you said in the car that I would kidnap you for Andrea's sake."
Grace felt a wave of embarrassment, then realized that Liam had changed. He was no longer the ignorant, naive boy.
The distance between them was still there, probably even greater now, because he had now fully understood that Grace couldn't trust him fully. The silence stretched out between them. Not knowing what to say, Grace just followed behind him.
Liam stopped outside a house that was dimly lit. He knocked on the door, and someone quickly answered the door.
The person who opened the door was a man in his 50s. He was skinny and looked like an alcoholic who thought of women as just toys.
"Who are you?"
The man was very rude.
Liam took a glance inside the house. There were empty beer bottles littered everywhere. It was obvious what this person was usually like.
"I'm a friend of Andrea's."
The woman grabbed Liam's arm. "Bring us to Andrea! Now!"
Liam pushed her away and walked into the house.
When he was locked up in the villa, he talked quite frequently to Andrea. After all, he had thought that Grace had abandoned him and all he had left was Andrea.
Liam had tried to comfort her during this period and also got a lot of information.
For example, she once told him how she had grown up in the countryside. When her parents came to Druville to work, they brought their son with them and left her at home to look after the cattle and sheep, fending for herself.
They didn't even give her a call during family festivities. An orphaned girl in the village would inevitably be bullied by those around her. The puppy she raised was also beaten to death, and she still kept one of its teeth.
That tooth was in this house; it was the only thing she loved and cherished the most.
The reason for Liam's visit was to retrieve the tooth.
