Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 46

"Alright, let's go!" Lily's face was filled with anger as she led Morgan away.

Even now, she was still fuming at Hayden and burning with resentment. She couldn't wait to leave, not wanting to see him anymore.

In no time, Lily and Morgan hurried off, leaving Hayden behind.

Hayden let out a cold and mocking laugh; his eyes were full of scorn.

Shortly after, he headed back to the Caldwell residence alone.

The sky had grown dark and heavy, and an oppressive feeling hung over it. It felt as if a thick layer of clouds was about to roll in. Many people could sense that it was likely going to rain soon.

Hayden frowned as his discomfort crept. The pain began to throb in his joints.

Without delay, he went to the pharmacy and picked up two packs of pain relief patches for his rheumatism, as this would help to slightly ease the pain.

When Hayden returned home, the Caldwells were bustling about.

"Hayden, you're back! Go wash your hands; dinner is almost ready!" Jenny grinned and quickly ran over to grab Hayden's hand.

"Alright, I'm on it!" Hayden nodded. He chuckled softly and headed to the bathroom to wash his hands.

While there, Hayden applied the pain relief patches on his aching joints.

Afterward, the Caldwells gathered around the dinner table, the atmosphere warm and harmonious.

"Hayden, the electric bike you bought Jenny is fantastic! How much did that set you back?" Serena asked.

"It was just over five thousand dollars, and it's considered a mid-range price. After all, Jenny will be riding the bike for at least three more years," Hayden explained.

"You really should save your money instead of spending it like this," Serena said seriously.

Jenny pouted, feeling a bit disgruntled. She was definitely going to earn a lot of money!

"Wait, what's that smell? James, did you put on some pain relief patches?" Serena asked with a hint of suspicion in her voice as she caught a familiar scent.

Back when James used to work as a laborer, his joints would often ache. To ease the pain, James had to use pain relief patches regularly.

Thankfully, life had gotten easier, and he no longer needed to work that hard.

"No, I haven't used those in a long time." James replied, slightly surprised, and he took a sniff.

James knew the smell well. He had grown used to it over the years, so it didn't bother him. But Serena was different, and she immediately recognized it.

As the smell became more noticeable, they both turned their attention to Hayden.
