"Or perhaps Lily wouldn't need to die if you told the truth."
Hayden's statement immediately got everyone's attention, their eyes wide open as they stared at him in confusion.
What was going on? Told the truth? What truth?
Morgan was the only one with a constipated look, and he glared right at Hayden. He clenched his fists, knowing full well that it was inevitable. He might as well let the cat out of the bag.
"It's my fault. I'm actually not sick. I just… accidentally fell down. I'm doing fine. Let Lily get the treatment. I'm not lying about this," Morgan explained cautiously, his face turning beet red.
He was worried that this matter would incur the wrath of everyone there.
"I told you not to say anything. Why won't you listen?" Francis roared as he glared at Morgan.
He was not the only one. Everyone else thought the same. To them, Morgan was clearly lying to let Lily get the opportunity for treatment.
Everyone was dispirited, feeling touched by Morgan's act of self-sacrifice.
Their response left Morgan discombobulated.
Was it not enough that he had told them the truth? What should he do now?
"Are you sure you merely tripped and fell? Do you really want to hide the truth?" Hayden scoffed.
"You—" Morgan gritted his teeth and stopped himself from saying more.
This exchange left everyone in the room rather confused.
"What happened? What are you talking about?" Julia shot an icy glare at Hayden.
"You bastard! Why didn't you say so earlier? You wasted so much of my time! I'll teach you a lesson after all this is over!"
Francis shot an angry look at Morgan, putting on a furious facade.
With that, they had at least gotten the chance to continue Lily's treatment.
"Hurry up and get Dr. Kray to treat my daughter!" Francis ordered.
"So, you're saying that when Morgan and Lily are both sick, you'll make the difficult choice to treat Morgan. Now that Morgan turns out to be healthy, you'll choose to save Lily instead. Am I right?" Hayden asked solemnly as he looked intently at Francis.
"Stop wasting time and start saving her!" Francis yelled angrily.
"But my previous condition was that you can only save either Morgan or Lily. I can choose to save Lily, but I'll also ask Dr. Kray to plant a hidden illness inside Morgan. Are you sure you still want to save Lily now?"
