"Besides, I still have some conditions to set," Hayden said calmly.
"What conditions?" Francis asked angrily, his face filled with fury and contorted with rage.
He knew that Hayden wasn't such a nice guy. There was no way he would agree to help just like that.
Charlotte, Julia, and Anna exchanged glances when they noticed Francis' fury. They had also realized that Hayden was either trying to use this opportunity to profit from them or reestablish his ties with the Sterling family.
"Hayden, as long as you agree to save Lily, we'll agree to any of your conditions. How much money do you want? Or are you thinking of reestablishing your ties with the Sterling family?
"We're fine with either. I know I'm just an outsider, so I'll leave the family as long as you're willing to help," Morgan said, taking the initiative to list all the possible conditions that Hayden might have.
Those were the conditions that Morgan thought Hayden would name. After all, a person's actions were tied to what benefited them.
What else could Hayden want? It had to be either money or the status as a member of the Sterling family.
Morgan was not the only one thinking that. All the other Sterling family members thought so too.
Everyone waited for Hayden's response.
However, Hayden scoffed with disdain and said, "You're overthinking things. I'm not returning to the Sterling family. I won't reestablish ties with you all even if you beg me to."
His words rubbed everyone from the Sterling family the wrong way. He made it seem as though reestablishing ties with the Sterling family was something filthy and repulsive.
"Then, what is it that you want? Just say it already! Or you can just write the number that you want on this check!" Francis urged impatiently, feeling annoyed.
Up to that point, he had been suppressing his anger. He took out a blank check and threw it on the ground.
The others stared at Hayden intently, their gazes carrying a hint of displeasure. They all thought that Hayden was there to rip them off.
He could have saved Lily without a fuss, yet he had chosen to do things this way. Did he have to throw the whole Sterling family into chaos like that?
"Morgan, thank you for your kindness, but I can't let you do this!" Lily shook her head, declining Morgan's offer through her sobs.
"Oh, Morgan, why do you have to take on such suffering? You're just a kid. What wrong have you done?" Charlotte sobbed, overwhelmed by her emotions. She couldn't accept this reality.
"That's enough!" Francis yelled, staring daggers at Hayden. His breathing was labored, as if he was breathing out a lightning storm.
Everyone in the room was startled.
"Hayden, do you think you're that great? I don't care if you agree to help or not. I'll make you pay the price for your insolence right now! Who do you think you are to make my son leave the Sterling family? Just so you know, no one will be leaving!" Francis bellowed.
However, Hayden merely shook his head calmly and said, "Don't jump to conclusions just yet. I didn't say that I wanted Morgan to leave the Sterling family. That's just his own assumptions. I just want you to choose between Lily and Morgan."
