"You're Hayden Sterling?" Albert Hill was instantly struck with panic, dropping the fruit knife in his hand. He stared at Hayden in disbelief, his mind racing.
No wonder the young man had looked so familiar. He was the person Albert was supposed to target!
He took a deep breath, pointing toward the door, and spoke with a cold tone. "I don't know what you're talking about. Please leave immediately!"
"Are you sure you don't know? Do you not remember your plan of running me over with a car, the strong liquor you prepared, the sleeping pills… Have you forgotten about that? And what about the 300 thousand? Have you set it aside? Or should I call the police to investigate?"
Hayden's expression remained indifferent, as if nothing were amiss as he recounted the details. These were things he'd only learned after his death.
As Hayden shared these details, Albert completely lost his composure. He had already mentally prepared himself for murder, doing it for his daughter's sake. But now, with the very target standing before him, he could no longer hold himself together.
He didn't dare kill.
He was terrified that Hayden would expose everything, ruining him completely. And then, what would happen to Jane?
The thought filled him with a sense of utter despair.
"How did you find out? Are you working with Mr. Morgan? What did I do wrong to deserve this? To be deceived and humiliated by both of you?"
Albert collapsed in despair and covered his face. His heart was filled with grief. The thought of how this situation would end scared him.
"Don't worry about it. I have a grudge with him. It was his idea for you to kill me. As for how I know all this, there's no need for you to worry. I won't report you.
"On the contrary, as long as you cooperate, I can guarantee that not only will you avoid prison, but you'll also have money to continue treating Jane," Hayden said with a soft chuckle, trying to win him over.
Albert finally took a proper look at Hayden in stunned disbelief. Originally, Hayden had a handsome, delicate appearance. But now, the smile on his face was terrifying.
He swallowed nervously, his gaze fixed on Hayden.
"So, what exactly do you want me to do? I need to know," Albert asked, his fists clenched, staring intently at Hayden.
"It's simple. All you need to do is act in a little play with me. I won't ask you to kill anyone, and I won't let you get caught!" Hayden gave a playful smile without revealing the details.
Albert hesitated. He lowered his head and was deep in thought.
Hayden's appearance had shaken him to his core. He didn't know what decision to make.
However, the options Hayden offered seemed to be the best for him. He wouldn't need to kill anyone, wouldn't be caught, and wouldn't bear any risk. Plus, he'd receive the money for his daughter's treatments.
There was no need to think further.
With that, Albert sighed and nodded in agreement. "Alright, I accept it!"
