"I was young and reckless; I didn't know any better. I thought I could take on the world, and chose to leave the Sterling family. Now, there's no chance of going back. Morgan, whatever you need, I'll do it for you!"
The more Hayden spoke, the more exaggerated his words became, and his face even showed a trace of excitement.
This left Morgan on the other end, feeling increasingly unsettled.
What was going on?
Not only had Hayden's attitude shifted, but he was even apologizing. Pigs might fly?
Morgan's breath hitched as his thoughts raced. An idea suddenly popped into his mind. Could it be because of what happened yesterday?
Hayden's spot at Brighton University was given to Morgan because of the Sterling family's influence. Had this left him in despair?
Perhaps Hayden had finally realized how formidable the Sterling family was and understood he stood no chance against them.
Was this why he had changed his attitude and now spoke so humbly? Could Hayden want to find a way to rejoin the Sterling family?
At this thought, a smile crept onto Morgan's face, a sense of triumph bubbling up inside him.
Perfect! Absolutely perfect!
Hayden was no longer a threat. He no longer had the qualifications to resist and was a pawn to be played with at will.
The more Morgan thought about it, the more elated he became. A bold idea even began to form in his mind.
"Hayden, here's the thing—my birthday party is coming up. Our family will host a grand banquet, inviting countless guests to attend. But I really hope you can come. After all, you're my family, and I don't want to have any regrets. Your blessing would mean the world to me.
"If you're free now, why not come over? We can talk things out."
His tone was heartfelt, almost pleading. It was as if he truly wanted to mend their relationship.
He had even prepared a script for the conversation and planned to invite Hayden to the Sterling residence for a proper discussion.
But before he could say anything more, Hayden replied casually, "Sure, I'll head over right now."
Could Hayden really be unbothered by everything he had done to him? It didn't make sense.
The thought of Hayden's calm acceptance irritated Morgan further.
"Forget it. Let him come. Let's get this over with quickly and send him on his way," Lily said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
"Hayden is coming?"
In the hall, Julia and Anna, who had overheard the conversation, were both surprised. They both walked over, curious to learn more.
But Morgan, now thoroughly annoyed, didn't bother explaining.
"My dear son, you're just too kind! Even after everything Hayden has done to you, you're still so considerate and forgiving," Charlotte said with pride as she ruffled his hair. "I'm so proud of you!"
The atmosphere in the hall grew warm and harmonious, filled with smiles and admiration.
