Penelope smirked and stepped in front of Danna. "Why so stunned? Hurry up and call the police. I'm waiting."
Sweat trickled down Danna's forehead as she clutched her phone tightly, uncertain of her next move.
"Curious why the bracelet that should've been in my bag ended up in yours?" Penelope questioned sharply.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Danna stammered.
"Do you think I didn't notice you slipping something into my bag?" Penelope's accusation was stern.
When Danna glanced sideways, she saw the action through a nearby mirror. As she turned around, the individual swiftly returned the item to her bag.
At that moment, Megan had an epiphany. "Danna, oh Danna, you truly have some devious intentions. To think you'd devise such a cunning scheme!"
"I never imagined you'd remain unrepentant after being detained last time. Today, I'll set things straight on behalf of the Archer family!" Penelope exclaimed, then turned to the store clerk, instructing firmly, "Call the police!"
"No, don't call the police!" Danna panicked.
Danna restrained the store clerk, preventing them from calling the police.
Coincidentally, Dominic called her, and with a quivering voice, Danna answered, "Brother, please help! They're trying to take me to the police station."
Megan was speechless, remarking, "She was the one at fault, yet she's the one shedding tears."
Dominic, nearby, arrived at the store within minutes.
Upon entering, they immediately spotted Penelope and the others locked in a standoff with Danna.
"They're bullying me!" Danna cried, pointing at Penelope and the others.
Dominic looked sternly at Penelope, then turned his face to Danna, asking in a chilling tone, "What's happening here?"
Danna wanted to explain herself, but realizing the circumstances weren't in her favor, she could only let her tears flow even more freely.
Megan couldn't hold back any longer. "It's clear as day! Your sister attempted to accuse our child of stealing that diamond bracelet wrongly. Yet, when our child stood up to her, she crumbled instantly. It's all an act!"
Dominic recalled Melissa and Danna's previous behavior towards Penelope, so he didn't doubt Penelope for a moment.
"Just choose whatever you want; consider it my way of making amends," Dominic intoned with a deep voice.
"I don't need anything. Why would I expect gifts from you now when you never gave me any during our marriage?" Penelope replied sarcastically.
Dominic realized that apart from the ring Penelope had lost, he had never gifted her any jewelry during their three-year marriage. The weight of his shortcomings pressed heavily on him.
At that moment, his heart plummeted. There were so many things he felt he hadn't done right in this marriage...
"What's your solution?"
Penelope's eyes turned cold. "What's your opinion?"
Dominic took a deep breath and said to Danna, "Say sorry to Penelope."
Danna shouted, "No way! I'd rather go to the police station than apologize to this wretched person."
"Danna, listen closely," Dominic warned sternly, "If you land in trouble again this time, not a single cent from the Archer family will go towards your bail, including Grandpa's resources!"
