Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 55

Warren was momentarily stunned by his friend's retort, attributing it to his bad mood. Without hesitation, he retorted, "I wouldn't even bother asking that fickle woman. She's always on the run."

"Really?"

A cold voice emerged from behind Warren, making him jump in surprise.

Whirling around, Warren exclaimed, "Can't you make some noise when you walk?"

"I'm right here. Anything you want to say?"

Penelope stood tall, her eyes gleaming with dominance, clearly having overheard Warren's derogatory remarks.

Dominic stood silently to the side, avoiding direct eye contact with Penelope but stealing glances her way.

For some reason, his emotions were in turmoil.

"Please, I have no interest in women like you. Hurry off to find your benefactor," Warren dismissed, waving a careless hand.

Taking a few steps forward in her heels, Penelope's imposing presence caused Warren to step back involuntarily. "Has anyone ever told you that you act like a gossiping market woman?"

Warren's anger surged forth. "You! Even after your divorce, you linger around my acquaintances, jeopardizing our business relations. Your cunning ways are well-known, yet you audaciously stand here mocking me. How laughable!"

Just then, a janitor passed by with a cleaning cart. Seizing the opportunity, Penelope grabbed a basin of dirty water from the floor and splashed it over Warren.

Warren had chosen a crisp white linen suit for the day. However, after getting drenched, the fabric clung to him, revealing more than he intended.

It was even worse than stripping naked for everyone to see!

"Penelope! How dare you!"

"I wonder if my actions align with your expectations of a financial supporter," Penelope remarked coolly. Swiftly retrieving her checkbook from her bag, she determinedly penned her signature. Striding over to Warren, she pressed the check to his chest, saying, "Consider this settled. It covers the cost of the attire and the inconvenience I've caused."

"The next time I catch you badmouthing me, it won't just be the water you'll be swallowing," she warned sharply.

With those words hanging in the air, she lifted her chin defiantly and marched away with determined strides.

After confirming all reports, Penelope left for the day.

A flashy red sports car pulled up beside her as she stepped outside.

Andrew stepped out of the car, holding an elegant box in his hands this time, choosing a different approach instead of showering her with roses.

His eyes, resembling the hue of peach blossoms, gleamed with warmth and affection as he flashed a cheerful smile. "Goddess, it seems fate has brought us together once more."

Penelope began to respond by raising her wristwatch to check the time, but Andrew interrupted.

"Don't mention work hours; the workday has already concluded," Andrew said sternly, still affected by the Goddess's earlier outburst.

Glancing at her watch, Penelope acknowledged it was past six.

"Just because it's after work hours doesn't mean you can approach me casually."

Andrew swallowed nervously, "I know you're not a difficult person. Is there a misunderstanding between us?"
