Dominic still couldn't turn a blind eye and leave. He wanted to take Penelope away, whether she was willing or not.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he arrived upstairs, he heard the news of Carlos's injury, and seeing Penelope's relaxed expression, he realized that he had misunderstood her.

Dominic's chest felt like it was being pulled, and he felt a wave of pain.

Opposite him, Penelope's sneering gaze was like an invisible whip, lashing his face, making it impossible for him to muster up the courage to walk up to her. He could not even pretend to question her.

It seemed that he hadn't been able to give Penelope anything in their marriage.

As soon as Penelope walked out of the hotel, the ambulance arrived, and the paramedics were running inside with a stretcher.

She called the butler to send a car and caught a glimpse of Dominic standing beside her.

"I'll drop you off." Dominic's tone was flat, with a hint of suggestion.

Penelope's eyes were cold, and her stare was sharp, "No need, I'm afraid I'll dirty Mr. Archer's car."

"What happened was indeed my fault." Dominic's voice carried a hint of disappointment, "What Danna and Kyla did to you, I am here to apologize to you on their behalf."

Penelope took a step back, her whole body exuding her rejection, her expression indifferent, and she said, "No need."

"Those three years must have been so tiring; why didn't you tell me?"

Dominic didn't know about all that happened until she left. Even the tone he would use to ask these questions needed to be carefully considered.

Penelope had long run out of patience, "Mr. Archer, you are so annoyed! It's been so long, and you're still dwelling on it; what's the use of that? Why didn’t you ask earlier?"

His delayed affection was completely worthless.

The driver came to pick her up in a Porsche, and she stomped away without looking back.

Dominic stood rooted in place, wondering what she was thinking.

After returning to the mansion, Penelope took a good shower and lay in bed, scrolling through the messages from the sister group chat on her phone.

Penelope picked a photo of Carlos and sent it to the group, then dedicated her high heels achievement to her sisters.

Megan: [My baby is mighty!]

Megan: [Your ninth-grade black belt in Taekwondo back then was something to brag about.]

Megan: [This person is disgusting! He's also wearing white underwear, and my eyes hurt!!!]

But she didn't expect that Carla would still be so upset. She even changed her expression after Penelope talked about Jack.

The three of them grew up together. Carla had been attracted to Jack since she was a child, but because of her awkwardness, she couldn't confess her love and later missed the opportunity.

Penelope called her assistant and instructed her to distribute the flowers she had received to her female colleagues.

When she opened her office door, she found Carlos waiting for her with crutches.
