Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 34

Three days later, at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

The lawyers from both sides had scheduled the procedure, and Penelope and Dominic arrived as agreed.

Upon receiving the form, Penelope promptly filled it out, her hand steady and persistent, showing no signs of hesitation. In contrast, Dominic held back, contemplating each word before finally making his mark.

Casting a sidelong glance at him, Penelope's voice was icy. "Mr. Archer, I'm pressed for time."

Feeling the urgency from her, Dominic’s face darkened as he began to fill out his portion of the form.

After completing the forms, they handed them to the clerk.

"Wait for a moment."

Dominic suddenly spoke up as the clerk was about to stamp the divorce certificate.

The clerk froze; she hadn't expected her first clients of the morning to be the CEO of the Archer Corporation and his secretary.

She had imagined that the next step would be marriage, but the unexpected turn of events took an even more dramatic twist—it was a divorce!

Dominic gazed at Penelope, his demeanor echoing the distant coldness they had shared in their past interactions. With an icy detachment, he asked, "Have you genuinely considered all the implications?"

If Penelope had a change of heart and decided to withdraw from the divorce, he would be willing to set aside all the money he spent in Dubai and the hardships she caused Kyla.

He was prepared to give her another chance.

"It's remarkably detailed," Penelope said, arching an eyebrow, the casual tone contrasting with the intensity in his eyes. "Do you still believe I'm playing games with you?"

Witnessing the unwavering determination in the other person's eyes, Dominic felt a constriction in his chest, a surge of inexplicable emotion tugging at him.

The days since Penelope left had made him realize they had hardly ever genuinely communicated.

Softening his tone, he said, "I can give you some time to think. We can discuss our marriage later. I admit, our communication was lacking."

Pausing momentarily, he continued, "I've seen your contributions to the Archer Corporation over the past three years. The doors to the Archer family and corporation will always be open for you."

His implication was clear—he didn't want the divorce or Penelope to resign.

"No need for calmness, no need for communication,"

Three years of marriage had ended, seemingly leaving nothing behind.

A tidal wave of despair engulfed him, making it hard to breathe.

...

At the Archer residence, around the dining table.

To celebrate Dominic’s divorce, Melissa prepared a sumptuous feast.

Unlike her usual gentle demeanor, Kyla wore a celebratory red dress, treating the day as if it were her own wedding day.

"Let's raise a toast and banish that wretched curse!" Melissa exclaimed; her face bright with joy as she led the celebratory gesture.

Danna quickly lifted her glass, eager to join in the toast. "We've finally severed ties with that troublesome star! Brother, you're free now."

Unable to drink due to her pregnancy, Kyla held a glass of juice. She smiled gently at Dominic, "Congratulations on seeing clear skies ahead."
