"Call the lawyer and arrange a time to visit the Civil Affairs Bureau." Dominic's voice grew louder, the suppressed anger in his chest seeking an outlet.

On the other end, Lanny dared not hang up. "Mr. Archer, they said the sooner, the better. As long as you finalize the time, they are ready anytime."

Hearing this, Dominic threw the still-connected phone to the ground.

He rubbed his forehead; the headache intensified. "Penelope... you're ruthless!"

Penelope pushed the meeting room door open, appearing elegantly in her professional OL suit alongside Megan.

Megan and Penelope had mended their friendship. They decided not to return to France, opting to accompany each other in business and open their boutiques.

Penelope introduced herself and Megan, "Hello, everyone. I am the General Manager sent by the headquarters for this Seattle branch. This is my deputy. I hope we can cooperate sincerely to enhance the performance of the Seattle branch."

Most people in the room were executives dispatched from the Dubai headquarters. They had already established their influence over the past year. They had anticipated claiming the long-vacant position of the General Manager, but unexpectedly, they were faced with an interloper.

However, many had already investigated and found that Penelope was once Archer Corporation's executive secretary, with no knowledge of her family background.

"Welcome, Ms. Reed!"

Most kept their dissatisfaction to themselves, knowing this was a decision from the headquarters. However, a few didn't like it and dared to speak their minds.

"You were once the secretary of Archer Corporation, and now you come to Diamoson Corp. as a branch manager. Doesn't the group worry that you'll leak company secrets to your old employer?"

Upon hearing this, Megan was ready to shield Penelope again, but he halted her, his eyes conveying that he could handle the situation.

The one who spoke was Carlos, the director overseeing the expansion department. His performance stood out the most among this group of executives, positioning him as the prime candidate for the general manager role.

Was it now a contest of who had more courage?

However, the branch's general manager held the authority to hire and fire employees. As he pondered whether to persist in being strict with Penelope, she nonchalantly prompted, "Have you printed it out?"

The secretary quickly stood up. "The printer is outside. I'll get it."

Seeing that it was getting honest, Carlos quickly found an excuse to step down, standing up with an embarrassed smile, "Ms. Reed, you are efficient indeed. It was just a joke, just a joke."

Penelope's eyes swept over him, her lips carrying a scornful smile. "But I'm not joking."

Carlos's face turned red, and he quickly apologized, "Ms. Reed, I'm sorry. It was impulsive of me. I will cooperate with your work in the future."

"That's good. The meeting is over."

Penelope and Megan walked out of the meeting room with agility.
