Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 23

Dominic's dark eyes became intensely cold. He had never witnessed Penelope behaving like this. Since proposing a divorce, this woman's actions had become increasingly outrageous, akin to a feral, unruly wild horse.

"You're cruel enough to lay hands on a pregnant woman. I've misjudged you," Dominic's face tightened, his gaze icy.

Penelope lightly raised an eyebrow, her tone indifferent. "You didn't misjudge. This is who I am."

She didn't need to explain anything. Coldly, she said, "Are you done causing a scene? Shouldn't you leave now?"

"Penelope, watch your attitude," Dominic's face tightened further, his gaze sharp and cold.

"Why? Do you think I will still kneel and apologize to you?" Penelope lightly sighed and chuckled, her lips filled with mockery. "You're dreaming."

"Dominic, it hurts so much..."

The soft, aggrieved crying reached their ears. Dominic looked down at Kyla in his arms.

Tears flowed down her reddened right cheek. Her lips were pale, and although she looked weak, she had her hand protectively placed over her stomach, giving the impression that she might faint at any moment.

Dominic frowned. "I'll take you to the hospital."

He lifted Kyla, and the crowd immediately made way for him.

After walking a few steps, he stopped, turning to Penelope behind him. "If anything happens to Kyla’s child, I'll hold you responsible!"

"Just a slap; what could happen to the child? Is it made of paper?" Megan stood beside Penelope, utterly speechless and so angry that she wanted to jump up and curse. "Don't just walk away. Who's afraid of whom? Do you think we'll back down?"

"Don't waste your breath on such people."

Watching Dominic leave with others, Penelope's smile slowly faded.

Megan put her arm around Penelope's shoulder. "Darling, you don't still like that fool, do you?"

Penelope sneered. "Never make the same mistake again."

These three years... indeed blinded me.

Despite knowing her character, Dominic seemed oblivious to Kyla's low-level scheming, letting himself be played. It was hard to say if he had a brain.

"This woman acts lovey-dovey in front of you, then dismisses the idea of divorce the next moment. Encountering her in Dubai, I naturally wanted to vent for you..." Danna's explanation became more and more hollow.

"She didn't react to such harsh words. Did you curse her more than once?"

Dominic's questions became sharper, making Danna argue more loudly. “When you were at home, you knew grandma treated her like a treasure. She treated her better than me. Except for occasional nagging about childbirth, who would provoke her under normal circumstances!"

Dominic's face gradually darkened.

As he thought about the harmonious atmosphere at home during his time there.

Thinking about the possible grievances she had suffered over the years, he took out his phone and sent a message to Penelope.

At this moment, Penelope and Megan were chatting on the bed.

The phone's message tone rang.

After reading the message, Penelope picked it up and rolled her eyes, utterly speechless.
