Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 20

"Business marriages can work as long as they don't interfere with each other. It's not impossible if you look at it practically," Dominic said.

"You're too pragmatic for me; I can't do that."

"In my mind, my wife should be a stunning beauty that captivates me at first sight. She should have perfect beauty, an intellect that looks down on everything, and an aura. That's the kind of woman I want."

Andrew waved his hand, "You're not me; you wouldn't understand."

Seeing his friend like this, Dominic didn't say much. He redirected the conversation back to the exhibition.

"Can this matter be resolved?"

Andrew thumped his chest, "Harris Corporation and Diamoson Corp. are jointly organizing this exhibition. I'll call them; Vincent will surely give me face."

Saying this, he picked up his phone and dialed the number.

However, after ringing for more than ten seconds, no one answered. Unbelieving, Andrew dialed again.

This time... the call was rejected directly, indicating they didn't want to talk.

After hanging up the phone in frustration, Andrew turned red and then pale, feeling embarrassed.

His good friend rarely asked him to do things, and he had confidently agreed, only to face rejection.

He touched his nose, feeling guilty. “I suppose he's busy. Let me first attend to your reception and refreshment, and we can talk later.”

Dominic followed Andrew out of the office.

Naturally, he understood that they had hit a wall.

The chances of Andrew resolving this matter were slim; it seemed they would have to find a solution through Penelope.

On the other side.

In a high-end boutique specializing in custom dresses for particular clients.

Vincent sat on an Italian leather sofa, exuding an air of nobility and indifference.

After rejecting the call, he looked at Penelope, whom a designer measured, "Dominic is in Dubai, talking to Andrew about us."

As he said this, he observed Penelope's expression, worried that his sister hadn't truly moved on.

However, Penelope's face remained calm, without a ripple. She turned her body to let the designer continue measuring her waist, "Leave this matter to me."

Her so-called best friend trampled upon their shared dream, and in anger, Megan went to France, cutting off contact between them.

Megan held Penelope's hand, indignant, "The one who's losing face is that blind Dominic, what a fool!"

"Darling, now that you're back, no one can bully you!"

"Anyone who bullies you, I'll slaughter them!"

Tears rolled down Penelope's eyes, and the two sisters smiled at each other.

"Don't cry, darling." Megan took out tissues and wiped her tears, "Come, tonight, I've arranged a celebration for you! Let's celebrate your escape from that scumbag and start anew!"

"Great!"

Penelope glanced at him, who had patiently waited for her to finish crying, and tightened her grip on Megan's hand.

She realized how incredibly foolish she had been to give up so many people who loved her for a man lacking emotions and fidelity.

Family love and friendship... They were far more precious than the elusive nature of romantic love.
