Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 14

Inside the old mansion, the servants had been waiting for a long time. Taking Dominic's coat, they seemed slightly surprised when they saw Kyla behind him.

"Miss Mendez, I've prepared your room for you. It's on the upper floor through this corridor."

Kyla, who had been following behind Dominic, stopped her steps, unbelievably looking over. "Aren't Dominic and I going to sleep together?"

Since Dominic had agreed to let her stay in the old mansion, it should mean that he tacitly accepted their future marriage.

Living together was only natural.

At her words, Dominic furrowed his brows slightly.

"Well..." Mrs. Edgar naturally didn't dare to say much.

Because she was afraid that Penelope might leave some traces in the house, the lady had specifically instructed her to prepare a guest room.

"I still have work to do; you go to sleep first."

Dominic, in a cool tone, cast a glance at Kyla, signaling her to leave.

"But..."

Sure enough, Kyla, still somewhat dissatisfied, followed up with questions. After receiving Dominic's instructions, Mrs. Edgar directly blocked her. "Miss Mendez, please follow me."

The doors of the private elevator in the old mansion closed quickly, cutting off Dominic's extremely indifferent face.

Kyla suppressed her displeasure. She always felt that Dominic's attitude towards her had changed after she returned to the country this time.

He was acting elusive, leaving her unable to figure it out.

Back in the study, Dominic took a shower, changed into a bathrobe, and flipped through the documents in his hands. However, he didn't genuinely read more than a few lines.

In the past, around this time, Penelope would bring a bowl of pigeon soup to the study, and then return to the bedroom to wait for him.

The study fell into complete silence. Dominic furrowed his eyebrows, recalling how Penelope had unhesitatingly taken off her uniform in the office, even if it meant losing face, she resolutely left. A strange emotion rolled in his chest.

If he remembered correctly, Penelope had mentioned that she was from a rural area, barely made it into university, and managed to stay in the big city.

She worked hard to open a clothing boutique, but shortly after marrying him, she closed it down.

For all these years, apart from the pocket money regularly given to her by the Archer family, she had almost no additional income.

What could a penniless woman go?

"First, go to the countryside." He still remembered the address Penelope had given as her 'rural hometown.' He didn't believe he couldn't find this woman.

"Second, contact the organizers of the Dubai expo. I want to see their chief executive."

After hanging up the phone, Dominic threw it onto the desk, his complexion becoming increasingly gloomy.
