Penelope felt some resistance. She had already submitted her resignation and had no responsibility to take care of such matters.
Moreover, although Kyla framed it as a question, it sounded more like a command, making her very uncomfortable.
However, when she remembered that Dominic still held some of her belongings, she considered this might be her last time doing such a trivial task.
So, she reluctantly agreed, "Alright, I got it."
"Thank you," Kyla said before leaving.
With her pregnancy, Kyla exuded a maternal glow, but the confidence and elegance of a noble young lady contrasted sharply with Penelope.
In the past, shielded by a large family, Penelope was no less outstanding than Kyla.
Over the years, she had become like a destitute bird.
The tremendous contrast made her stand still for a moment. After a while, she collected all her emotions, came out of the restroom, and went to the pantry to brew coffee.
Dominic's taste was three parts black sugar and one part milk in Americano.
In the meantime, the meeting had already ended, and people were trickling out of the conference room. Not seeing Dominic among them, Penelope guessed that he had probably already entered his office.
Holding the coffee, she knocked on the door of the CEO's office.
"Come in," but the voice that came from inside wasn't Dominic's cold and stern tone but Kyla's delicate voice.
The coffee cup in Penelope's hand almost shook and spilled.
After struggling for a while, she mustered the courage to push open the CEO's office door.
The moment the door opened, she saw Kyla embracing Dominic's neck, sitting on his lap.
Although Penelope was mentally prepared, seeing such a scene suddenly stirred up emotions that were difficult to calm down. Her heartache was almost stopping her heartbeat.
Being caught off guard, Kyla seemed a little embarrassed.
"Put the things here, and you can leave,"
Kyla's gentle voice brought Penelope back to the present.
She slowly raised her head, locked eyes with Dominic from a distance, and felt his gaze piercing into her soul.
The cold breath emanating from his eyes seemed to engulf her instantly.
"Oh? What is it?"
Kyla became curious. Clinging to Dominic's arm, she tightened her grip a little. "Dominic, why are you withholding something from a secretary?"
"It's nothing important."
Dominic pulled Kyla's small arm, restraining her in his arms. Looking at Penelope, the two bodies were tightly pressed together.
She bit her lip, remained silent, and her heart seemed to be bleeding. Until Dominic looked at her as if she were a stranger and said, "You can leave now."
His words were forceful and piercing.
Seeing his attitude, it seemed he had no intention of easily returning her ID card.
"It's my ID card."
While Kyla was present, Penelope straightforwardly spoke, hoping to resolve this matter quickly. She couldn't stand being in this place for another minute.
"I have already submitted my resignation from Archer Corporation, but Mr. Archer is withholding my ID card. Such behavior makes it hard for me not to suspect whether Mr. Archer has other intentions toward me. With so many talents in Archer Corporation, there's no need for Mr. Archer to resort to such despicable means against a mere secretary."
