Rebirth In Divorce My New Mr. Perfect (by Summer Knowles) novel Chapter 827

As soon as he got in his car, his phone rang.

"Who is it?" he answered warily. The voice on the other end was bone-chillingly cold. "Dr. Xavier, you seem to have a selective memory. Let me remind you—when exactly do you plan to pay back this money? You've been dodging us, not answering calls. Are you planning to break our agreement?"

Dr. Xavier said frantically, "No! I'm not—I just don't have the money right now. Give me two more days!"

The person on the phone burst into laughter. "Dr. Xavier, do your wife and son know about this? If push comes to shove, we could use them as collateral, though I doubt they'd fetch much."

Dr. Xavier was terrified. "Don't! Don't touch my wife and son! I'll pay you back, I swear!"

"Fine. Two more days—that's it. If you still haven't paid up, I don't think your family needs to keep breathing."

The line went dead. Dr. Xavier sat there shaken, gasping for air. What was he going to do?

Where could he possibly get the remaining money?

He returned to the hospital in a daze. Tina’s body was in the autopsy room—the family had consented to the examination.

He performed the autopsy as usual, wrote his report. It took over an hour before he emerged.

He returned to his office with the report, but when he opened the door, he found an unfamiliar woman waiting.

She was dressed head to toe in designer clothes, impeccably styled—clearly someone of status.

"Miss, you are...?" The woman ignored his question and asked instead, "Are you working on Tina Mendes’s autopsy report?"

Dr. Xavier frowned slightly. "How do you know that?"

The woman laughed. "I not only know that—I know you're about to write a false autopsy report."

"Impossible! I'm a doctor. I have principles," Dr. Xavier said firmly.

The woman pressed on relentlessly. "What if I could help you resolve all your troubles? What if I could help you pay off those loan sharks?"

Back in the present, Dr. Xavier looked at Melvin and Sarah. "These past few days, my heart has felt like it had a boulder pressing on it. Now it's finally lighter."

"What about the real autopsy report?" Melvin asked.

Dr. Xu smiled helplessly. "Something that important—I kept it safe. I was worried."

"Dr. Xavier, name your price. We want the materials you have."

"An exchange," Dr. Xavier said seriously. He only wanted what Melvin had.

Melvin raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Fine. But I'm curious—who exactly was that woman?"

Dr. Xavier drained another cup of water. “Vivian Wilson from the Wilson family. I've seen her on TV."

Everything made sense now. Melvin said solemnly, "Two days from now, same time, same place. We'll make the exchange."
