Vivian took the rose. "Mr. Spencer, you came to see me before the party even started. Won't that spoil the surprise later?"
"It's the same seeing you now. The Reynolds family will come tonight, right?" Leon’s expression was complex.
She set the rose aside and took out a pair of earrings from her jewelry box, putting them on unhurriedly. "Probably. We sent the invitation, and Grandfather personally invited him. If he doesn't come, he'd really be disrespecting the Wilson family."
"Has Zachary ever shown the Wilson family any respect?" Leon laughed.
He slowly moved closer to Vivian and brushed a strand of her hair, creating an intimate atmosphere. "I'm looking forward to this dance, especially in front of him."
"What's to look forward to? I'm not the one he likes," Vivian said with unspeakable resentment in her voice.
Leon raised an eyebrow. "He likes that Sanders woman? I've seen her on TV."
"She's quite a remarkable person—the treasured one of the Sanders family, someone Zachary has liked for years. She's also a well-known psychologist whose published papers are studied by many experts."
"Hearing you describe her like that makes me even more curious about her," Leon said, his eyes brightening.
The party hall was brilliantly lit with all the lights turned on. The November weather was cold, and the women were wearing thin gowns, so the heating had been turned up in the hall.
Mr. Wilson sat chatting and laughing with those beside him.
The media aimed their spotlights at everyone who entered. Important people got more camera time, while those without influence were barely acknowledged.
When Charlotte entered arm-in-arm with James, the spotlights flashed. Everyone had heard about the recent issues between the Chancer and Wilson families, so they were surprised he had still come.
Mr. Wilson smiled. "The Chancer golden boy came too. I heard you had a big baby boy. Why didn't you bring him today?"
James responded warmly, "The child is too young and sleepy, so we let him sleep at home."
The first person to catch their eye was Zachary, followed by Sarah walking behind him.
The bright lights made Sarah seem to glow, as if she herself was radiant light.
She was so beautiful that even Charlotte's heart skipped a beat.
Her grip on James's arm unconsciously tightened because she noticed that from the moment Sarah stepped inside, James's eyes seemed glued to her.
"James," she called coldly.
Zachary walked in with Sarah beside him, her face wearing a gracious smile as she moved with swan-like elegance.
Together they approached Mr. Wilson and greeted him with warm smiles.
