Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 1062

Lucinda wouldn’t even look at Frank. She turned her head away and said, “You are not my father.”

Her voice shook with anger as she went on, “Grandpa has loved me and spoiled me since I was little. But you? You’ve never once acted like a real father, not even for a single day. And now you do something so heartless... How could you?”

Her eyes began to shine with tears.

Kylie saw her and rushed over, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Lucinda, we never imagined he’d turn out to be this kind of person. Since you’ve decided to call the police, let them handle it. He needs to face the consequences.”

Lucinda nodded right away. “Okay.”

When Frank realized Lucinda was actually serious about calling the police, he exploded.

“You ungrateful brat! I came here for you, and this is how you repay me? You really want to send your own father to jail? You’re just as heartless as your mother!”

His words got nastier and nastier, but even with all his anger, Frank didn’t mention that he’d been working with Lucinda and Grace. If that came out, Lucinda would be in trouble too.

What Frank couldn’t wrap his head around was why, even after the Norwoods had handed the decision over to Lucinda, she still chose to turn him in.

Why? He was her father. Everything he’d done, he’d done following Grace’s plan, supposedly for Lucinda’s own good.

How could she be so cold?

It was only now that Frank realized he’d been set up by both Grace and his own daughter. And there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn’t even speak up. The whole thing left him feeling completely defeated.

Kylie couldn’t stand to hear another word. She had someone stuff a cloth into Frank’s mouth to shut him up until the police arrived.

She shook her head, sighing. “I never thought he’d turn out to be like this. Thank goodness Lucinda never went back to him when she had the chance. Imagine what her life would be like if she had.”

Cameron let out a long sigh. “The important thing is that your grandfather’s alright. Now, get up. We’ll make sure nobody in the house says a word about this. As for him, he can sit in a jail cell and think about what he’s done.”

Lucinda finally breathed a little easier after hearing Cameron’s promise.

She’d been terrified the staff would gossip and the story would spread. Even if she stayed with the Norwoods, she’d be shamed by every other powerful family in the city.

A little while later, the police showed up and took everyone’s statements.

Lucinda watched as the officers led Frank away in handcuffs. Only then did the tension in her chest finally ease.

He was gone. That nightmare was finally over.

Honestly, deep down, Lucinda had never once truly accepted Frank as her father.
