As soon as Connor said that, Greg’s cocky confidence vanished. His eyes narrowed in shock.
Falcon was dead?
No way. That couldn’t be right!
Falcon was a powerhouse, never the type to just die out of nowhere. Besides, Greg hadn’t heard a single rumor about it. Just earlier today, Falcon had checked in with him, saying he still had the boy.
Was Connor lying? But… that didn’t fit. Connor wasn’t the type to make things up. If he was telling the truth, then something huge must have gone down in Southeast Asia.
Greg felt a chill run through him.
If Connor knew everything, then he was here for one reason. To call him out and drag him home.
“You teamed up with Falcon and did all kinds of dirty things. Southeast Asia has changed completely. Greg, you’re coming back with us to face justice. Now.”
As soon as Connor finished, Greg yanked Sandy closer, taking two quick steps back. “Kill them!” he shouted.
This was his territory. Connor and his little crew thought they could take him down here? In their dreams!
He wasn’t about to go down like Falcon.
In that instant, Greg’s men stopped caring that Mark was still in Lydia’s grip. They all turned their guns on Connor and his group and opened fire.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The gunfire echoed so loud it seemed like the whole building might collapse.
All around them, gamblers panicked, screaming and scrambling for the exits.
Greg seized the chaos, dragging Sandy along as he tried to escape. Good thing he hadn’t gone downstairs earlier, or he’d have no way out.
Sandy was terrified. Everything was out in the open now. Lydia knew everything. She couldn’t let them catch her, no matter what. If they did, her life was over. She clung to Greg’s arm, desperate not to be left behind.
Just when she thought they might make it, two shots rang out, bullets slicing through the air right at them.
She could pratically feel the wind from the shots as they passed.
“Sandy, baby, trust me, I’ll come back. I promise.”
He forced her hands off his arm, turned, and hobbled away as fast as he could without looking back.
Sandy collapsed on the floor, watching Greg disappear. Numb, she squeezed her fists tight and let out a bitter, shaky laugh.
He always said she’s little darling, his precious girl. She’s supposed to be the most important woman in his life, as important as his own life.
All lies!
When it really mattered, he ditched her and ran.
Men. They’re all just selfish!
Suddenly, the cold barrel of a gun pressed against her head. A familiar, icy voice spoke from above.
“Sandy, Luke is your brother. How could you do this to him?”
