It was around then when Neal arrived at Fabiola’s home with a gift in hand… but to his surprise, he only found her housekeeper there.
Upon being asked where she was, the housekeeper respectfully replied, “Ah, she headed off to go mountain climbing up the Alcier Tips earlier in the afternoon.”
Raising a slight brow, Neal decided not to think too much of it and simply left the gift on her table… However, just as he was about to leave, a news broadcast suddenly blared from the playing radio…
“An avalanche has been reported at Alcier Tips, and the general public is advised not to approach the area for the time being. Moving on to other news…”
Naturally, Neal’s mind immediately began racing after hearing that! Fearing the worst, he quickly tried calling Fabiola… But even after a minute had passed, she still hadn’t picked up!
Watching as the anxious Neal began bolting toward the door, the housekeeper couldn’t help but ask, “M-Mr. Xenos! Slow down, where are you-”
“I’m off to find her!”
Finally catching his drift, the worried housekeeper replied, “B-but as the reporter said, that area isn’t safe right now! What’s more, there’s always a chance that she could’ve avoided-”
Alas, before the housekeeper could even complete her sentence, Neal had already rushed off. Sure, even he wanted that to be the case, but… On the off chance that she was stuck under the snow…! He simply couldn’t afford to risk that!
The rescue team hadn’t arrived yet, and with how icy the piercing winds were this high up, every step felt like Neal was walking through a meat grinder! Even so, he persevered… and after a two-hour struggle, he found what he was looking for.
While ascending the mountain earlier, he had taken note of a run-down cabin… and finally, he had found it! Wasting no time, he quickly carried her in before placing her on the bed… and even though his legs were all numb by this point, he still prioritized getting Fabiola warm by starting a fire by the fireplace.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the warmth to spread… and as color slowly returned to his cheeks, the relieved man sighed before muttering, “…Couldn’t you have picked a less dangerous hobby…? Seriously…”
It was at that moment when Fabiola suddenly held Neal’s hand… and though he was pleasantly surprised at first, he quickly pursed his lips when he heard her mutter, “Cold… Please… Hold me, Hanley…”
