Once the call was over, he squatted by her side and began handing her some tissue papers. With that done, he turned to look at Xavia who was still dumbstruck at the top of the stairs. It took him a while, but he eventually asked, “…Are you alright, Xav?”
Finally snapping out of it, Xavia shook her head before saying, “I-I’m fine…”
Now that she had recovered from her shock, she couldn’t help but feel rather guilty. After all, had Fiona not stepped in in time, then Zivon could’ve… Well… Regardless, this showed Xavia just how much Fiona loved him, and she was now more than happy to leave Zivon in that woman’s arms if she ever passed away…
With that, she walked over to the two before taking a deep breath as she added, “…Thank you, Miss Squire.”
Biting her lower lip to suppress the pain, Fiona then scoffed, “I don’t need your thanks… I was saving the most important man to me, and it has nothing to do with you!”
She was clearly trying to piss Xavia off, but Xavia herself was too gratified to care. She was just nodding in response when Zayne and two nurses came running over to them. Seeing that, Xavia said, “Send her to the hospital with Dr. Xenos, Hubby… After all, she did save your life…”
Thinking that Xavia was just trying to be kind, Zivon didn’t think much of it as he replied, “…Yeah, I will. Also, you and the kids should head over to the palace for now. I’ll come pick you up again once Nathan has fully checked the integrity of this place.”
Nodding in response, Xavia then saw them off before slipping an overcoat on to meet up with Ian and Lana… Honestly, she had initially planned not to tell them that she had earlier vomited blood, but now that things had come to this… She really had no other choice.
Regardless, it didn’t take long for Lana to exclaim, “M-miss…! The poison’s spread has doubled again…! If this continues, you could die without any warning…!”
“With your help, we’ve managed to progress much quicker, though… From what I’ve gathered, an antidote for this poison never existed in the first place… It was meant to solely be used to assassinate, and Xavia has apparently only been able to survive for this long because I changed most of her blood and implanted an artificial liver inside her back then… Alas, not even that can save her now, it seems…”
“For Jenna to use such horrible poison on her own sister… If she was still alive, I’d love nothing more than to pummel her face…!” concluded Matthew, leaving Ian silent. He knew how vicious Jenna had been, and he had only kept her alive because of certain reasons…
His train of thought was cut short when Matthew added, “…Speaking of which, did the poison act up again? If so, then we need to move quickly. I know I said that there’s a possibility that an antidote never existed, but… there may still be a way to find one.”
“…Go on.”
