Chapter 799
“Tell me the truth. What’s going on?” Bianca confronted Dorothy. “Are you and Dad hiding something from me?”
Dorothy continued to deny it. “No. You can’t fall for Anne’s trick…”
“Fine. I’ll run a paternity test myself.” Bianca headed for the door.
Dorothy knew that she would not be able to argue with the results and that everyone would find out about it if she let Bianca run another test. She panicked and shouted, “Fine! You are not Nigel’s daughter!”
Bianca turned around to stare at her in disbelief. “Who’s my father, then?”
“I…I was raped. Shortly after I married your dad, I was out drinking and on my way home, someone…”
Bianca could not stand to think that she could be the daughter of some beggar.
“Bianca, I’m a victim, too. I didn’t want this to happen. When you were admitted to the hospital, your blood type didn’t match up and your dad went to look into that. I was too careless, or this wouldn’t have come into light.”
“Who else knows?” Bianca questioned.
“No one. I didn’t tell anyone. Only your dad knows. I won’t let that affect your engagement with Anthony.”
A thought popped into Bianca’s head and she gasped, “You can’t be the one who got Dad in that car accident, can you?”
“Of course, not!” Dorothy denied it, “I have nothing to do with it.”
“I remember that Dad insisted on divorcing you during that time,” Bianca said, realizing that Nigel must have been triggered by the discovery that she was not his daughter.
“That’s true. I’m mad at him for that and that he threatened to go to court, but I didn’t want him dead!” Dorothy argued, “Anthony looked into it, right? If it’s me, he would have found out about it by now.”
Bianca could not argue with Dorothy on that, but if it was truly an accident, it meant that even the gods were helping her.
She laid her head down on the edge of the bed and sobbed, before asking the nurse to look after Nigel and leaving half an hour later.
At night, Anne stayed the night in Sarah’s mansion. Ever since what happened to Nigel, she rarely went back to her apartment and stayed with Sarah most of the time.
She would occasionally bring the triplets over to visit. Overjoyed, Sarah woke up early to cook for them.
“Are you up? Breakfast is ready. Come and eat!” Sarah was visibly more energetic than before.
“I love Grandma’s food!” Chloe took Sarah’s hand. “But it’s tiring to cook. What if you get sick?”
“We will give Papa’s money to Grandma!” Charlie said.
“We will hire people to take care of Grandma!” Chris added. Sarah grinned from ear to ear at their words.
