Chapter 84
Cameron let out a heavy sigh. “Thanks, Ryan. I owe you for this.”
Ryan’s expression turned amused and a little sarcastic. “Don’t thank me just yet. You might end up hating me.”
“Hate you?” Cameron chuckled. “At most, you two will just bicker a little. I know your
character. No matter what happens, you’d never actually hurt her.”
Hurt her? What even counted as too far? Did liking her in silence for 15 years count? Or was it only “too far” once it turned physical?
The dogs barked.
A grilled sausage cart rolled by nearby, and the three big boys couldn’t resist the smell of meat. They started going wild, dragging their leashes like their lives depended on it.
Cassandra was barely holding them back. “Ryan! Get over here—your dogs have gone insane!”
For some reason, every time he saw Cassandra playing with them, Ryan felt something tickling right at the center of his chest.
He ended the call without another word and ran over. “Coming!”
Cameron frowned at the abrupt end of the call. “That was quick…”
Still, it was Ryan, his best friend. He didn’t think much of it.
Besides, he thought he’d heard a woman’s voice shouting Ryan’s name in the background. It was probably Ryan’s girlfriend.
With everything that had happened lately, he had taken up too much of Ryan’s time.
And now that Ryan had finally won the heart of the woman he’d waited so many years for, Cameron genuinely felt a little guilty.
“Cameron, are you calling Cassandra again?”
Grace had found Cameron on the stairwell of the hospital, secretly making a phone call behind her back.
Ever since Simon had been detained, Grace’s dislike for Cassandra had only grown.
