Cassandra changed into the new dress in the fitting room.
She had to admit that Ryan had good taste. The dress didn’t look all that special on its own, but it surprisingly matched her vibe perfectly. It was simple and elegant, with a quiet sense of vitality. Not flashy, but enough to catch attention at first glance and hold it.
The heels fit just right, too. They were only three inches tall, much better than the four–inch black ones she had bought online. Wearing those all day at work had been torture.
Three inches felt just right and more comfortable
A few of the shop assistants gathered around, their eyes lighting up.
“Mr. Scott really has an eye for fashion. This outfit looks amazing on you.”
When Cassandra stepped out of the fitting room, Ryan was standing with his back to her, talking on the phone.
He only turned around when he heard her footsteps–and then froze. His eyes locked on her and didn’t move for a while.
One of the assistants called out, “Mr. Scott, take a look!”
That was when he finally snapped out of it. He rushed to end his call and walked over.
Cassandra asked, “Well? What do you think?”
He cleared his throat, pretending to be serious. “Not bad.”
The assistant chuckled. “Come on, how is that just ‘not bad‘? She looks stunning.”
Ryan gave a little huff and looked away. “Let’s go. Hurry up.”
He walked off quickly, forcing Cassandra to chase after him in heels.
“Do you have somewhere to be or what? Slow down! I can’t keep up!”
She expected him to walk even faster, the way he usually did. But this time, Ryan stopped and
waited for her.
When she caught up, he started walking again, but much slower than before. He was clearly adjusting to her pace.
Cassandra muttered, “Whoever invented heels must’ve been a sadist.”
Ryan’glanced at her feet. Her fair, delicate toes peeked out from the silver, rhinestone-
studded heels. They looked extra dainty and cute
He quickly looked away. “If you can’t handle heels, don’t wear them.”
“I can’t just not wear them. Even the hotel’s female staff wear heels. I’m a manager—I can’t show up in flats.”
“Says who? If I say you can, then you can.”
She gave him a light poke. “So what exactly are we doing? You bought me new clothes and everything, and you haven’t even paid. Are we just walking out like this?”
Ryan glanced at her. “It’s on account. I settle it once a year.”
“So, you really shop here often for women’s clothes?”
He frowned. “Why are you so nosy? Are you interested in my private life or something?”
“Not at all. Buy all you want. You can dress up in them alone in your room and live out your cross–dressing dreams for all I care.”
Ryan couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Cassandra really was one of a kind.
Back in the car, the dogs immediately started barking and whining.
Ryan gave each of them a quick pat on the head, but when one of the dogs leaned over to nuzzle Cassandra, he shoved its head away.
The poor dog looked heartbroken and whimpered
Cassandra gave him a look. “Why’d you do that? He was just trying to say hi.”
“You’re wearing a white dress. One lick, and it’ll be ruined,” Ryan said.
Well, that was a fair point.
