Brad was the kind of person who said one thing but meant another. He'd insist he didn't like Nadine, but his actions said otherwise.
Every day, he found an excuse to be around her. Even when she scolded him, he didn't seem to mind. If that wasn't masochism, what was?
Brad's frown deepened, and his expression hardened. "If you don't have anything useful to say, then don't say anything! I asked for advice, not for you to talk me out of it!"
He had divorced Nadine and handed her the divorce agreement. But in his mind, they were still married. He was just mad that she had treated him as nothing more than Jack's replacement. Once she apologized, he'd forgive her and get back with her.
Alex responded dismissively, "Well, then tell me what happened! How am I supposed to give you advice if you don't tell me anything?"
Brad spilled everything this time. After hearing his recount, Alex burst into laughter. He laughed so hard it took him a full minute to catch his breath.
The sound of his mocking laughter made Brad's blood boil. "Stop laughing, or I'm hanging up!" Was it really that funny?
Alex pinched his thigh, forcing himself to stop laughing. "Are you a masochist? Nadine made it crystal clear when you two divorced—she didn't want you in her life anymore. And yet, here you are, barging into her world. Can you really blame her for resenting you?
