Cherie pushed him away and continued walking forward. "I'm going home now."
Boyle grabbed her wrist and pulled her back into his arms before hugging her gently. He lowered his eyes and stared at her with an extremely warm gaze as he spoke in a soft and deep voice, "My lasagna has always belonged to you and I'll only make it for you. You have no reason to feel awkward or nervous about it."
"... But you shouldn't carelessly make it for any random people though." It was the root cause of her disdain in the first place.
The tone of Cherie's voice sounded as if she was throwing a little tantrum. The sound was quite pleasant to Boyle.
Boyle lowered his head and kissed her forehead as he said, "Yeah, I know. I won't do it again next time."
Boyle then stared at her and said, "Today has been awesome though."
He lowered his head and kissed her again as he continued, "The kiss is your reward for today."
Cherie was speechless.
Boyle glanced at the table and said, "Well done. You stopped ordering iced Americanos now. You've done well."
He lowered his head and gave her another kiss.
Cherie was speechless.
She then glared at him and said, "You call this a reward?"
"You don't like it?"
Cherie was completely baffled by him as she remained silent.
She could not be bothered to give him any form of reaction.
Cherie walked ahead with a smile while Boyle went after her before holding her soft little hand.
Cherie flung his hand away but he continued to hold her hand regardless.
Both of them seemed as if they were messing with each other since the woman was constantly trying to push him away while the man kept trying to hold onto her.
Cherie returned home at night.
Just as she was about to go to sleep, her phone started ringing.
The takeout delivery man from downstairs said, "Excuse me, is this Miss Fudd?"
"It is."
"You have an order and I'm currently downstairs. Could you come out and get it?"
Cherie replied, "Just put it by the gate. I'll get it right now."
"Alright."
Cherie found the entire exchange odd since she had not ordered any takeout. She wondered who exactly had ordered takeout for her in the middle of the night.
When she approached the gate, she noticed a plastic bag hanging outside the gate.
Cherie brought it in and opened the plastic bag, noticing a Tupperware in it.
She wondered which restaurant would be so careless to give their customers expensive Tupperware boxes when they ordered takeout instead of single-use ones.
She brought the plastic bag up to her room. When she opened the Tupperware, she was instantly greeted with the delicious smell of freshly-made lasagna. Hot steam was even wafting out from the container.
Cherie was puzzled as she scratched her head.
Natalie was never a friend to Cherie.
Whitney said, "I heard that not only did Natalie suffered from a miscarriage, she was also brutally injured. She was inches away from death when she was sent to the hospital by a random passerby since she lost a lot of blood. It seems both her legs are even completely crippled now and she will most likely spend the remainder of her life in a wheelchair. Sigh, it seems karma finally caught up to her sins. Her incident has gone viral in the university's alumni group. I don't think she'll be able to show her face in the capital ever again."
…
After that, Cherie heard that Natalie had been hospitalized for half a month. When her family learned about the incident and made their way over to the capital, they demanded an extremely high compensation from the White family. It seemed the incident was swept under the rug after the White family paid Natalie's family off.
Since Natalie's family lived in an extremely rural area of the country, they lacked any real-world experience. A million bucks was an astronomical amount of money to them.
After her family received the money, they completely neglected Natalie's needs and used the million bucks to buy a home for Natalie's brother.
To add insult to injury, they even complained about Natalie's medical fees being too expensive, so they decided to have Natalie discharged from the hospital and brought her home.
Mandy and Joy had paid Natalie a visit in her hometown after that.
Mandy said that Natalie's living conditions were hellish since she was completely ignored by her parents. They left her alone in a small and humid room. Since she was crippled and wheelchair-bound, she required around the clock assistance whenever she had to use the washroom.
Natalie's parents were unwilling to hire a caretaker for her, so all she could do was take care of herself.
This caused Natalie to constantly wet herself. Someone would only change her clothes for her after a day.
Her parents were constantly complaining about how useless of a person she was. They even deemed her a curse from their previous life that had been reincarnated in their current life to torment them.
As a result, Natalie had been completely driven up the wall and went mentally insane after that. In one of her manic episodes, she charged out of the room with her wheelchair and slipped down the stairs when she lost control of her wheelchair. She injured the back of her head from the accident.
Since her family was unable to afford such expensive ICU treatment, they decided to give up on her.
That was because the doctors had told them that even if she was able to wake up from her coma, she would spend the rest of her days in a vegetative state.
