At the dining table during breakfast the following day.
While eating some toast, Cherie said, "Hey dad, I didn't get to drive the Porsche 911 back home last night. It's still parked at the open parking lot in the Green State Building."
Harrison who was sitting beside her asked curiously, "How'd you even get home last night then?"
"I drank some champagne at the event last night and was unable to drive home, so Whitney was the one who drove me back."
Harrison felt even more curious as he asked, "Wait, that alcoholic Whitney didn't drink even a single drop of alcohol at the event?"
Cherie muttered ‘yeah" under her breath as she lowered her head and drank some milk.
Harrison was still very skeptical about the whole ordeal.
Heaton said, "Harrison, why don't you and your sister both head over to the Green State Building later so that Jelly Bean can drive the car back."
Harrison nodded and said, "Sure, dad."
The siblings drove over to the Green State Building after breakfast.
Harrison scanned the area when they arrived at the open parking and said, "Where on Earth did you park, sis?"
Cherie scratched her head and said, "It was too dark last night so I just randomly picked a spot. I don't remember."
"Oh my god, just look at the number of cars there are here. How can female drivers not remember where they even park their cars. Not to mention, you guys absolutely suck at reverse parking and always have the tendency of scratching your car. Dad must've been blind to allow you to drive his Porsche 911."
Cherie carefully looked for her car and it did not take her long to notice the red Porsche 911.
"Over there."
When they walked over to the car, Harrison's heart shattered when he noticed that the front of the car was completely smashed in.
"F*ck me. Which blind idiot did this?"
Cherie frowned as she said, "That's odd. When I had someone's help to get my car parked inside the lot last night, it was completely fine. How could this happen?"
Harrison went ahead to touch the scratches and dents in the car. He noticed a card placed on the windshield with contact information when he looked up.
It had a person's name with a string of numbers.
"It should be that person's number."
Harrison took his phone out immediately and called the number. It did not take long for the other person to pick up.
It was a man's voice. "Hello?"
Harrison immediately handed Cherie his phone while gesturing at her to speak to the other person.
Cherie grabbed his phone and said, "Hello, I’m the car owner of license plate number XXXX. I realized my car has been damaged and you left your contact information on my windshield."
Calum replied, "Oh, yes indeed. I’m terribly sorry, miss. I accidentally crashed into your car while I was parking last night. When are you free? Let's meet up somewhere so we can talk about the settlement and compensation."
"Alright. I'm free at noon."
"Alright then. I'll send you the address, miss."
…
Calum told Boyle who was sitting in his office chair after the phone call ended, "Boss, the lady said she'll be free at noon."
Boyle raised his chin at him and said, "Send her a text and tell her to meet at the 4S Store near Lake Street."
"Boss, you have a very important meeting scheduled at noon. It's with…"
"Just cancel it."
Calum was stunned and seemed to have finally caught onto what his boss was up to. Had his boss finally started to become interested in women?
He remembered how the woman from last night had looked like. She seemed very young and pretty. However, there were plenty of beautiful women who had been pursuing after his boss during the years but his boss had never seemed interested in any of them.
Had his boss fallen in love with the woman from last night in a single glance? Was this love at first sight?
However, Calum found the woman from last night very familiar-looking. He felt like he had seen her before but could not recall where he had met her from.
Calum dared not ask and all he could do was speculate. "Sure, boss, I'll get to it right now."
…
Boyle was the one who got out of the car.
Cherie was speechless and fuming when the man strode over to her.
"Are you toying with me, Boyle? Did you do this intentionally?"
Boyle was calm as he pointed at the damage on the front of his black Bentley and said, "I wouldn’t ever toy with luxury cars nor waste money. You should know that."
Cherie actually believed him when she noticed how serious he seemed since Boyle actually started from nothing and was not a man that was wasteful with money.
Cherie said, "Since that's the case, let's have someone come over and assess the damage. We can talk about paying for the damages after that."
The instant she turned around, the tail end of her ponytail grazed his neck due to how close they were standing from each other. It felt itchy.
Boyle smiled at how impatient she looked.
It seemed she had gained quite the temper in those seven years.
The mechanic came out from the 4S Store and took a look at the damages. He said, "Whoa, quite the damage has been done. It might actually set you back by twenty to thirty thousand bucks."
Cherie replied, "Sure, let's get it taken care of."
The mechanic added, "However, getting a new paint job done will take quite some time. You guys can come to collect your cars tomorrow or leave them here and walk around town for a bit before coming back to collect them."
Boyle said, "I need my car. I'll get it today."
Cherie had only driven that same car here. If she was to return home, she had to call a cab, so she asked, "How long will it take?"
The mechanic replied, "It should probably be done in around three hours."
Three hours. Calling a cab home would take an hour, and she would have to wait at home for another hour plus another just to return here. It was not worth the trip home first.
"Fine. Please hurry up. I'll wait here."
Cherie waited at the waiting area and it seemed like her phone was about to die. She originally intended to kill time with her phone but all she could do then was wait boringly for her repairs to finish.
Boyle suddenly said, "It's boring to wait here so why don't we head back to my house to meet Boney. The cat hasn't seen you in a really long time now."
