Cherie had deliberated for the entire day and in the end, she decided to find Boyle to discuss the pregnancy.
She was pregnant and Boyle had responsibility for it.
It would be no use if she kept acting cowardly.
Boyle was the father of the baby. He had the right to know about it.
After arriving at Greentown Condominium, Cherie rang the doorbell but no one answered. Cherie figured that Boyle had not come home yet.
She sat by the emergency exit staircase and quietly waited for Boyle.
While she was waiting for him, she thought of the various scenarios on how Boyle would react. Boyle would probably give her a stack of money for abortion or perhaps, he might take responsiblity of the baby?
However, no matter what presumptions she had in mind, she did not seem to want to brace herself to accept it.
She rubbed her hand against her flat belly. She looked down to the ground and mumbled, “Baby, please don’t be angry at me if I decide not to keep you. Please forgive me, okay?”
She was only eighteen. If she were to leave university to be a single mother, Heaton would probably beat her to death.
She did not dare to put her life on the line to take care of the baby.
Ding.
The doors of the elevator opened.
The sound drew her attention. It was Boyle.
She took a deep breath and stood up. However, just as she was about to leave the emergency exit, she hesitated.
Was it appropriate to come and find him without notifying him beforehand?
After all, they had officially broken up two weeks ago.
Just as she was contemplating whether to approach Boyle about the baby, another elevator arrived at the same floor. The doors swung open and a lady rushed out of the elevator.
“Boyle!”
Boyle was about to enter his house when he heard someone calling him from behind. As he turned around, he saw Natalie approaching him.
Boyle frowned. “Did you follow me?”
Natalie intentionally wore high heels today. As she walked toward him, she bent her ankle on purpose and stumbled into Boyle’s arms.
Cherie stood behind the emergency exit door while holding tight onto the door. Her eyes flared in anger as she witnessed this scene.
Why did Natalie come to Boyle’s house? What was she planning to do?
Natalie smiled shyly and answered, “I wanted to consult you on something. My basics in advanced mathematics are fairly poor and hence, I didn’t get a good result in my final exams. Although it’s up to the mark, there’s still a long way to go if I wish to get a scholarship. I wish to get a scholarship every year like you did.”
Boyle was about to say that he was busy. However, as he lifted his gaze, he noticed a petite figure behind the emergency exit door.
‘It’s Rie. Is she here because she misses me?”
His heart wavered. However, he regained his composure in no time with his rational thoughts.
If she wished to coquettishly persuade him to reconcile with her, he doubted he would be able to resist it.
He could not bring himself to be cold-hearted toward her. His heart melted instantly just by the sight of her.
Natalie deliberately dolled herself up today. She was pretty confident with her looks. Although her looks were not stunning, she had exquisite facial features which captivated people’s hearts. As Boyle did not turn her down, she continued, “I know you’re a kind and helpful person. You’ll definitely help me, right?”
She lifted her chin and stared at him with a doe-eyed look.
Boyle did not feel like teaching Natalie. However, he wanted Cherie to drop the idea of reconciling with him.
Boyle nodded and opened the door for her. “Let’s talk inside.”
Natalie was quite surprised. She did not expect Boyle to invite her into his house.
They went inside and the door was closed.
Cherie stood rooted to the spot. As she saw Natalie’s face lit up with a broad smile, tears started rolling down her cheeks.
She came to realize that he could be gentle to any girls and invite them to his house if he wanted to.
She thought that she was special to him. He pampered her, doted on her and took care of her. At the very least, he did like her back then.
However, she finally understood that she was no different from Natalie or Layla.
Why did she have such wishful thoughts, thinking that he would take the responsibility of the child if he knew she was pregnant?
She caressed her belly with her trembling hands. Drops of tears fell rapidly to the ground as she lowered her head.
Natalie felt unfair. She followed behind Boyle and said, “Boyle, I like cats too. You must be busy with work matters since you have to meet clients, go to the law firm and court. If you aren’t free to take care of the kitten, I can take care of it for you.”
Boyle’s voice was cold as he asked, “Are pets even allowed in the girls’ dormitory?”
Boyle was clearly aware that regardless of boys’ or girls’ dormitory, no one was allowed to have pets.
“I can secretly raise it in my dormitory. In fact, the old lady in charge of our dormitory seldom does spot checks on us. This kitten is so obedient. It definitely won’t cause me any troubles.”
Boyle stroked Boney’s fur gently and uttered, “But Boney doesn’t like strangers.”
The smile on her face froze.
Boyle’s words were straightforward. No matter how shameless she was, she felt humiliated right.
Boyle lifted his arm and glanced at his wristwatch. Fifteen minutes had passed and the little girl would have probably left.
Boyle’s face turned cold and aloof. “I have work to do. You can leave now.”
Natalie was startled. “But… Boyle, you said that you will help me with my advanced mathematics…”
“Forget about it. I don’t have a habit of helping others, even more so strangers.”
He was extremely cold and harsh toward her.
She bit her lips hard until her lips went pale. Although she was angry at the cold treatment, she dared not unleash her anger in front of him. She was afraid that he would despise her even more if she were to do so. How could she still get close to him after that?
She had to hold her anger in. If Cherie could be shameless and win Boyle’s heart, she could too.
Natalie reluctantly walked toward the door and put on her shoes.
Boyle called out, “Oh by the way.”
She thought Boyle had changed his mind and wanted her to stay. “Yes?”
Boyle glanced at her coldly and continued feeding Boney with cat food. “I don’t like being followed. Please do not use such tricks on me anymore. The reason why I invited you to my house wasn’t because you sparked my interest. To me, I have zero interest in you and no matter how big your eyes are, you will never become my girlfriend.”
Natalie’s cheeks were flushed in anger and she was extremely pissed.
However, from his indifferent tone and his impassive look, she seemed to be the one who had a vicious tongue instead.
The clumsy tricks she used on him seemed ridiculous and silly like a clown.
