Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 844

Nothing special happened throughout the winter break for Cherie. She just hoped that time would pass quickly so that she could return to the capital to find Boyle.

During her break, she texted Boyle countless times but he did not reply to her. He gradually stopped picking up her calls too.

The groundless talk on the internet regarding Boyle and his father was suppressed after a few days. After the heated discussion died down, Hanson did not cause trouble anymore. It seemed like everything had returned to normal.

Cherie was particularly excited on the day she returned to school. After unpacking her belongings in the hostel, without even meeting Whitney, she headed toward Greentown Condominium straight away.

She entered the password and successfully went into the house. Boyle was not at home and Boney was curled into a ball in its warm nest while nibbling cat food.

As her female owner was home, Boney stopped whatever it was doing and pranced toward Cherie before pawing at her leg.

Cherie sat on the floor and carried it in her arms. She then teased it with her fingers. “Where’s your dad? Why did he ditch you alone at home? I’m starting my classes today and he didn’t even send me messages nor answer my calls.”

“Meow.”

Cherie was patting Boney while mumbling to herself, “You also think that he’s at fault here, right? Regardless, he has too many things to worry about so I’ll just be forgiving and not bicker with him about this.”

“Meow.”

“Did he bring any girls home recently? If you were to see him bring other girls back home, you have to jump onto the girl and bite her, okay?”

“Meow.”

Boney thought, ‘I’m just a cat, not a dog. It’s not even threatening if I bite someone.’

Cherie noticed Boney had gained weight. It was not as thin and fragile as it once was when they brought it home. Cherie said with a broad smile, “It looks like he took good care of you. You’re going to be a fat cat soon. Great. I’m pleased with that.”

“Click.” The door was opened.

Boyle entered the house and saw a girl and a cat staring at each other on the ground.

The girl cupped her hands while talking to Boney. He could not decipher what they were mumbling but Cherie looked serious.

Boyle stood by the entrance and gazed intently at this warm, lovely scene. Soon, this scene would become a fragment of memory to him.

Boney noticed Boyle’s presence and pranced toward him. As Cherie turned her head toward the door, she saw Boyle standing by the entrance as their eyes locked.

Like before, Cherie excitedly dashed toward him and jumped into his embrace with her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.

“Why didn’t you contact me?” She looked at him with her pitiful, doe-eyed gaze.

Boyle tried to suppress all his emotions within and subsequently uttered, “I was busy.”

“Hmph, you’re so busy to the extent that you don’t even have the time to reply to my messages? Boyle, you’re such a liar.”

Boyle stared at her adorable, angry face and did not have the heart to be cold toward her. “I didn’t know what to reply.”

“You didn’t know what to reply? Then you can just say ‘I miss you’ or ‘I like you’. You can’t just leave me hanging.”

Boyle quietly removed her arms from his neck and uttered, “I’ll prepare the meals now.”

Cherie could sense the cold treatment from him. After a long separation, shouldn’t he hug or kiss her?

Boyle went to the open plan kitchen. Cherie followed behind him and subsequently buried herself in his embrace.

Boyle frowned and said, “I can’t do anything with you in my arms.”

She did not bother about it and refuted him in an unwavering manner, “We were like this the last time too.”

Boyle thought to himself, ‘Fine. Let her be then. I… won’t have any chance to hug her anymore.’

Cherie lifted her chin and looked at him. “You mentioned that you will bring me to the amusement park if I obtained 90 marks for my additional mathematics in my final exams. Is it still valid?”

Boyle thought to himself, ‘Let’s make it our last date. Other than being able to please her, it’s also to satisfy my wish.’

“Yeah.”

“Really?”

Cherie smiled widely at him and poked his cheeks. She looked as if she was able to read his thoughts and said, “You do miss me, right? If you do, why didn’t you tell me then? Are you shy?”

Boyle clutched her hands tightly.

Cherie acted calm and sighed in an adult’s tone. “Since you miss me so much, I will sacrifice myself and stay here to accompany you. However, I need to stay at my hostel from tomorrow onwards. Don’t miss me too much.”

Suddenly, Boyle pressed the back of her head toward him. He lowered his head and kissed her lips passionately.

Cherie was gasping for air due to the sudden kiss. She leaned her body against him and poked his chest. “Boyle, so this is how you express your longing toward me, huh?”

At night, when Cherie had fallen asleep in his embrace, Boyle laid on the bed sideways while staring at her with one hand supporting his head.

If the little girl Hanson kidnapped back then was not Cherie, he would not take Heaton’s words to heart when Heaton paid a visit to him.

The guiltiness in his heart forced him to let go of her. It appears that this was how it felt when one could not be together with the person they loved.

He once thought that the reasons they might not be together till the end was probably due to their vast difference in social status, due to trivial matters in life or perhaps, she had become mature and fell in love with another man.

He did think of many possible reasons leading to their breakup.

However, there was room to save the relationship if one of these possibilities occurred.

If it was due to their difference in social status, he could work hard in giving her the best life she could ever have. If it was due to the trivial matters in life, he could just bear with her and let her do whatever she wished to. If she took a liking to another man, he could chase her to win her heart back.

However, not once he had ever thought that he would be the one receiving the retribution for Hanson’s sinful act.

In fact, he could have known that Cherie was the victim of the kidnapping incident. He was perhaps avoiding the truth. He loved her dearly and subconsciously, he chose to avoid the truth.

There weren’t many Fudd families in North City. Who else could it be other than Cherie?

Boyle was the one who was unwilling to think about it nor read the newspapers published back then. He did not want to rip and reveal the scar in his heart anymore.
