Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 791

After Cherie successfully entered the law firm, Huntley looked at her weirdly as if she were an alien.

She was embarrassed by such scrutinization.

Huntley smirked. “If that’s the case, do you know Boyle? Furthermore, if you do, are you close to him as well?”

While Boyle was away to take a shower, Cherie did not dare exaggerate about the relationship between them. She was treading on thin ice as she smiled shyly in response. “I do know him but we’re not as close as you think.”

At the very least, Boyle was not close to her.

“But you’re here to deliver meals for him?”

“...”

“Tell me honestly, you like him, don’t you?”

Her eyes were fixated at Boyle all the time ever since she entered the law firm. Huntley was a handsome guy too. However, he was completely ignored by this young lady.

The only explanation he could think of was that this young lady liked Boyle and had fallen head over heels for him.

Her silence made it obvious.

Huntley had a sharp tongue. Since he found her quite interesting, he continued, “Little girl, have you ever heard of the saying, ‘loyal guys are vulnerable to clingy women’?”

Cherie shook her head.

Huntley continued, “Boyle has a hard time in relationships. He’s a typical loyal guy when it comes to them. If you like him and wish to pursue his love, you’ll have to pester him constantly.”

Cherie pouted her lips. She took his words seriously and asked him in concern, “What if he gets annoyed by my constant pestering?”

Huntley could not help but laugh at her innocent look. “He won’t get annoyed. He’ll give you a cold shoulder at the very most. Perhaps, he might even become yours if you keep on pestering him.”

Cherie sighed heavily. She slouched her shoulders and muttered, “I’m scared I don’t have the perseverance…”

“You won’t know the outcome if you don’t try.”

Huntley was eating, lifting his chopsticks to take the only drumstick in the plastic container.

Cherie immediately snatched the plastic container away. “You can’t eat this.”

Huntley was startled. “Why?”

Her cheeks were flushed as she stuttered, “This wasn’t prepared by Hector. I bought this from the cafeteria.”

Huntley raised his brows. “Oh. Tsk, that’s definitely for Boyle.”

Since Huntley had given up on eating the drumstick, Cherie placed the plastic container onto the table.

Cherie tried to please him. “Huntley, if you wish to eat drumstick, I’ll get you one next time.”

Huntley curved his lips up into a smile. “Such a tactful girl. You’ve got a bright future.”

Cherie muttered, “But…you have to help me in regards to chasing Boyle.”

“Sigh, it’s such a small matter. We’ll seal the deal with a drumstick.”

Cherie’s heart was filled with satisfaction.

Recently, Whitney had gifted her a book titled Relationship Tactics and mentioned that if one wished to win somebody’s heart, they had to buy off the person’s close friends.

She felt that she had done quite well in this aspect and was already one step closer in capturing his heart.

When Boyle came out of the bathroom, his face darkened instantly as soon as he saw them chit-chatting happily.

Cherie’s eyes fixated on Boyle the moment she saw him. “Come over and eat. The dishes are getting cold.”

Boyle sat beside Huntley as Cherie passed the drumstick to him. “I purposely went to the school cafeteria and bought this for you.”

“I don’t like drumsticks.”

Cherie frantically asked, “... What do you like to eat then?”

Huntley glanced at the fussy man sitting beside him and huffed in disdain. He dragged the plastic container toward him with his chopsticks. “Cher, you don’t have to pamper him. If he doesn’t want it, I’ll eat it then!”

Boyle uttered impassively, “Let me send you back after taking care of these witness statements. Give me half an hour.”

Cherie was afraid she would be disturbing his work. “It’s alright. I’ll take a cab back to school.”

Huntley interrupted, “A few days ago, I heard on the news that a homicide case was filed against the cab booking app. A female passenger was raped before getting killed by the driver. Her body was discarded in the wild.”

Cherie was frightened and speechless.

Boyle stared at Huntley with a cold gaze. “Huntley, please keep your mouth shut if you don’t have anything good to say.”

“Tsk.” Huntley chided him, “Brother, I’m doing this for your happiness. Please appreciate my efforts.”

Huntley’s words were a little ambiguous. After that, Cherie did not insist on leaving anymore. She quietly sat at a corner while waiting for Boyle to finish his work.

Boyle and Huntley were engrossed in their work.

While she was waiting for time to pass, she recalled the additional mathematics homework she had yet to complete. Since Boyle might take some time with his work and she had bought her bag along, she took out her homework and started doing it with her head resting against her arm on the office desk.

Boyle was managing files and testimony while she was doing her homework. The atmosphere seemed so serene.

Boyle was a workaholic. The moment he started working, he would be preoccupied with work and neglect whatever was going on in his surroundings.

When he lifted his head to take a short break from his work, he saw the little girl solving a maths question with a serious look on her face.

She would crease her brows or crack her knuckles sometimes, looking cute yet serious at the same time.

He glanced at his watch. It was already nine. He should send her back to school or else the hostel gates would be locked.

He went behind her and gazed at the algebra question she was solving.

“It’s wrong.”

Cherie startled momentarily as a deep voice came from above her. She sat upright and frantically straightened her back.

‘When did he stand behind me? He makes me nervous since he’s so close to me,’ Cherie thought to herself.
