In Kingswood Mansion.
Ruby was playing with Hahah in the courtyard.
Aunt Heather rushed over with a concerned look as she said, “Miss Luna, when I was cleaning up Master Blaine’s study earlier, I found these pictures on his desk. These are very private to Master Blaine and I know I shouldn’t voice my opinion on matters like these as a servant, but these pictures were obviously taken in secret. You know how unique Blaine’s circumstances are due to his identity, so I’m worried that someone might be using these pictures as leverage against Master Blaine.”
Aunt Heather then handed the pictures over to Ruby.
Ruby took a few glances at the pictures as they were being handed over. They were pictures of intimate moments she had with Blaine.
Blaine was the Dark Organization’s Director and she happened to once serve the Light Organization and Z Country. This put both of them in opposing positions against each other.
“I know, Aunt Heather. Put them back on Blaine’s desk. You don’t have to tell him about it.”
“Sure.”
Ruby squatted on the grass as she reached out to pat Hahah’s head before mumbling to herself, “You know, my identity is as unique as your father’s. I have no idea why your father is still so adamant in keeping me by his side. He couldn’t have actually fallen in love with me now, right?”
However… She realized on much deeper thought that they did not exactly spend too long of a time together. They had only met each other two to three times in the past before other than when others had set her up. As a result, they somehow ended up sleeping together. Their future encounters were all work-related.
Judging from Blaine’s personality, he did not seem like the kind of person to be tempted by women. It would be too controversial if he actually did fall in love with her though.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, a black car entered the courtyard. It was Blaine’s.
When Hahah noticed its master getting out of the car, it rushed over to Blaine’s side and started nuzzling up against his leg in a very coquettish manner.
Blaine frowned slightly as he thought about how much Hahah was attached to him.
Ruby stood up and when she noticed the silhouette of a tall man approaching her, she felt a sense of familiarity from that alone. It felt like deja vu for her, but she could not recall exactly where she had seen this scene before.
For a moment, she was stunned.
She only snapped out of her trance when Blaine walked over to her and reached out to pat Hahah’s head while saying, “I’ll need to travel abroad tomorrow so I’ll leave Hahah with you while I’m away.”
She asked him, “Where will you be going, Blaine?”
A peculiar glint flashed across Blaine’s eyes. He did not expect Ruby to actually be concerned about him since such concerns would have only come from Softie a decade ago.
He replied without any hesitation, “The Western borders.”
Immediately, he continued after that, “I might not return for at least a year and a half. I won’t force you to take care of Hahah if you’re unwilling to.”
This was because their original agreement was only for a hundred days. Three months would soon fly by in the blink of an eye.
“If that’s the case, wouldn’t you’d be in for a very huge loss, Blaine?”
Blaine remained silent. However, he cracked a subtle smile.
He would not be able to protect her while he was away from Glacier City. He knew that the Glaceau family would be completely against her in his absence, so it would be better off for him to set her free. It would not be too late for him to look for her again when he returned.
…
Blaine began packing after dinner.
Ruby knocked on the door while standing by the entrance. She crossed her arms as she stared at the busy man.
“Why were you deployed to the Western borders so suddenly? You’re technically royalty though, so how is it possible that you’ve been deployed to the Western borders so suddenly?”
Blaine did not look up as he simply replied, “Because only I’m capable of settling the horrible conflicts at the borders.”
Ruby pouted her lips as she muttered in her heart, ‘How arrogant.’
However, in less than two days after Blaine’s departure, Shadow had shown up to throw a fit in Kingswood Mansion. It had even escalated to him pointing a gun at Ruby’s head!
Old K stepped in to stop him. “Have you gone mad! If you actually murdered Miss Luna, Master Blaine will never let you go!”
Shadow gripped onto his gun tightly before gritting his teeth and saying, “It’s all this woman’s fault! She did the same thing to Master Blaine ten years ago! So much so that Master Blaine nearly died in Z Country! Now, however, this woman has caused Master Blaine to be deployed to a place like the Western Borders!”
Ruby was puzzled as she asked, “What do you mean by me doing the same thing to Blaine ten years ago?”
From what she recalled, she had never even met Blaine ten years ago. How could Blaine even get hurt because of her?
Shadow scoffed before staring at her with a mocking gaze as he exclaimed, “Keep pretending, go on. Keep pretending to play dumb! Your purpose for coming over to Glacier City is to get Master Blaine killed, isn’t that right!”
While Old K was dragging Shadow out the door, he told Ruby with a smile, “Miss Luna, please forgive Shadow’s stupidity. I think he must’ve fallen on his head today!”
Shadow furiously exclaimed, “Stop pulling me! Let go of me, Old K!”
Ruby frowned as she coldly exclaimed, “Let go of him, Old K. Let him continue. I’m actually quite interested in knowing what exactly has happened between me and Blaine ten years ago.”
Old K covered Shadow’s mouth immediately with his hand as he said, “Nothing.”
However, Shadow pulled Old K’s hand off as he exclaimed, “Let go of me! Aren’t you pretending to play dumb? You were a spy sent by the Light Organization ten years ago to seduce Master Blaine and have him fall in love with you. However, even after Master Blaine learned the truth about you being part of the Light Organization, he defended you recklessly. Did you know, he was hunted by Stephen and nearly lost his life at Z Country! You! You schemed against him and wanted his life. However, time and time again, Master Blaine gave his heart and soul to you! Do you even have a heart, woman!”
Ruby was speechless.
She was unable to react to such a huge revelation in such a short amount of time. However, the most important detail she was puzzled about was the fact that she had no memory of these events ever transpiring?
“What’s the matter? Are you speechless because I’ve exposed you?”
“I’ve absolutely no memories of anything you’ve just told me.”
