Blaine was exhausted when he returned to the Kingswood Mansion.
Those old forces were getting unhappy with his radical policies since the beginning and had accumulated many years of resentment toward him. They had wanted to find a reason to subdue or overthrow him since the beginning and had also planned to take away his position as the Dark Organization’s leader.
They were a nuisance to him.
“Master Blaine, you’re home.”
The moment Cindy saw Blaine, she immediately smiled and welcomed him. “Master Blaine, what do you want to eat for lunch later? I’ve told Aunt Heather that I’ll be cooking in the afternoon.”
Blaine raised his hands and loosened his necktie. He was feeling a tad irritable and frowned slightly before uttering dismissively, “Just cook anything.”
Cindy could see that he was not in a good mood. She continued to put a sweet smile on her face. “Master Blaine, I don’t know how to cook ‘anything’.”
Blaine ignored her wordplay joke and only lifted his head up to glance at the living room before asking her, “Where’s Ruby?”
Once Ruby’s name was mentioned, Cindy quickly answered, “Miss Luna has gone out to hang with her boyfriend this morning. I’m not sure if she’ll be back for lunch. Master Blaine, shall I call her?”
Blaine’s frown deepened but there was no sign of anger from him. “No need. Let her be.”
Subsequently, Blaine went upstairs and headed into his study.
Cindy was glad at his reaction when she told him about Ruby’s whereabouts. It seemed that Master Blaine was finally losing his patience in pursuing Ruby. Ruby acted according to her own accord and had been wasting his patience and attention toward her. He should not have bothered about her since the beginning.
While she pondered that, her mood brightened up further. She then turned back into the kitchen and started preparing lunch to showcase her prowess in cooking.
…
The woman who always ruined her plans was not around today. Other than her and Master Blaine in the mansion, only the housemaids were around.
Suddenly, a thought came to her mind. She gathered her courage and added some drugs into the soup she prepared.
As expected, Ruby did not come back to have lunch. There was only Blaine and Cindy at the dining table.
Blaine did not have much appetite as he had a lot of things in his mind.
Cindy scooped out a bowl of soup and passed it to him. “Master Blaine, if you don’t have any appetite, you should at least drink some hot soup to warm your stomach.”
Without hesitation, Blaine took the bowl of soup and finished it all in one go.
Cindy stared at the empty bowl and the smile in her eyes deepened. “Master Blaine, do you want to eat something else? I’ve put a lot of effort into preparing these dishes.”
“It’s alright.”
Blaine wiped the corners of his mouth with a napkin, stood up, and left the dining table.
Cindy stared at his retreating figure and the smile of victory on her red lips became wider and more conspicuous.
Soon... She would soon become his woman.
After that, she wanted to see how Ruby could continue her antics and arrogance around her!
...
Some time after Blaine went back into his study, he could sense an intense heat spreading all over his body. The irritability he felt due to the heat was unable to be ignored.
His Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat. His hands rested on the study table, supporting his body weight as he tried to suppress these uncomfortable feelings.
He could feel his cheeks gradually redden due to the heat.
Using a great amount of force, Blaine lifted his hands and grabbed his phone to call Nine.
However, Nine seemed busy as no one answered the call.
Damn it!
Click.
The door was gently opened.
The woman’s soft and flirtatious voice filled the room. “Master Blaine.”
Blaine tightened his fists and clenched his teeth to suppress his extreme discomfort. The veins on his temples were throbbing painfully. He tried to calm himself. “Is there anything you want?”
Cindy approached him and touched Blaine’s hands in pretense. She yelped, “Master Blaine, your body is piping hot. Are you sick?”
Blaine flung her hands. “I’m fine. Get out.”
Blaine tried hard to retain his last trace of reason as he reached out for his phone to answer the call.
However, Cindy snatched the phone away and held it tightly in her hands. She ran toward the window sill and shamelessly cried while begging him, “Don’t pick up... Master Blaine, I beg you not to pick up...”
Cindy knew very well what the outcome was for her if her plan failed.
She would completely lose Blaine and she could not tolerate that.
She could not afford to lose Master Blaine.
To prevent Blaine from answering the call, she threw the phone out of the window.
When Blaine felt that he could not hold in his desire anymore, he strode toward the door but was once again stopped by Cindy’s persistent pestering.
Due to the drug’s effects, Blaine did not have any energy left to push her away.
...
When Ruby was back at Kingswood Mansion, she bumped into Nine in the courtyard.
Nine was frantically running toward the house when Ruby stopped him.
“Did you do something wrong? Why are you running?”
Nine’s face was pale. “Master Blaine called me an hour ago and I didn’t hear it as I was attending to some matters.”
Ruby crossed her arms while mocking him. “I didn’t know you were so afraid of Blaine.”
“If something happened to Master Blaine and I wasn’t there for him, the consequences will be dire!”
Ruby and Nine rushed toward the study and stopped upon hearing the strange noise coming from behind the door.
Ruby was at a loss for words.
Nine inched closer to the door and cocked his ears. “What’s the situation? Is there a match going on?”
While staring at Nine who was leaning his body against the door, Ruby surreptitiously raised one of her legs and violently kicked Nine into the study.
