Ruby draped Blaine’s jacket over herself and tucked her hair underneath the jacket. The night turned foggy at the cliffside after a downpour. This greatly obscured anyone's vision since anything further than ten feet would be hard to spot. The only thing they would be able to see would be the person’s silhouette and the jacket.
Ruby had successfully distracted those assassins away from them while gunshots filled the air. Ruby was pursued by about four to five assassins as her gun was almost out of ammo while she made her way to the edge of the cliff. Just as she was about to jump into the sea, one of the assassins opened fire at her. Ruby fell forward and directly off the cliff.
“Crash…”
A huge wave formed on the surface of the sea.
Seawater washed over every inch of Ruby’s body… the only sounds she could hear were the sounds of rushing waves. She could not hear anything else.
Her body was gradually getting heavier as she sunk to the bottom of the sea… she had completely lost consciousness after that.
…
Blaine had already passed out from losing too much blood by the time he safely arrived at R Country.
After sitting through a two hour surgery that was personally performed by Nines, Blaine was finally stable.
When Nines got out of the operating theater, he told Old K and Dark Shadow after taking off his face mask, “Make sure Master Blaine doesn’t overexert himself for now. Although his injuries aren’t too serious but due to how much blood he has lost, his body will be weaker than usual. He needs to rest.”
“Alright.”
Dark Shadow immediately gave Old K a punch in his face as he said, “I told you to stop Master Blaine from going to Z Country, so why didn’t you stop him?! Did Master Blaine get injured because of Softie again?”
Old K wiped the blood stains off the corner of his mouth before saying, “Can I really stop him though? If I can, why didn’t you do it in the first place?”
Dark Shadow was speechless after hearing his reply. He clenched his fist and furiously stormed off to a nearby stool before sitting down as he said, “That woman sure is a jinx alright! I told you didn’t I! She’s a spy! No, not only was she a spy, she was a spy from the Light Organization! Master Blaine actually gave up his territory of the Easthill Valley to an enemy!”
“We can’t intervene since this happens to be Master Blaine’s own choice.”
Dark Shadow frowned as he said, “Best she hope Master Blaine turns out completely fine or else, there will come a day that I personally muder that woman!”
Old K mocked, “You know, before the reinforcements arrived, that woman you speak so vilely of was the one who distracted the assassins away from Master Blaine. That’s exactly why Master Blaine is completely fine now!”
“Hmph. If it wasn’t for her, Master Blaine wouldn’t have gone to Z Country in the first place!”
Old K felt helpless as he waved his hands at him and said, “Forget it, I can’t be bothered to argue with you.”
“It’s your fault for being unreasonable!”
In the medical bay.
Ruby was completely unconscious.
After Joan returned from the director’s quarters, Thompson asked in a frantic tone, “So, what did the director say, Joan?”
Joan took a glance at the woman in bed through the window and said, “The director wants all of her memories in R Country completely erased from her mind. Only by forgetting about Frost Blade would she continue to be loyal to the Light Organization.”
Thompson replied in a dissatisfied tone, “But I don’t approve of the director’s decision this time. Ruby almost died from falling into the sea! We did this to her! Does the director even think of her as one of his disciples? I would feel as bad as Ruby if this was to happen to any of us today!”
Joan spoke in a calm tone, “However, if we don’t erase her memories about Frost Blade, Ruby’s life will be at risk. You know, everything that she has done so far is already considered treason to the Light Organization. How else do you think she’d be able to remain in the Light Organization ever again?”
“Well…” Thompson grabbed his hair in frustration as Joan continued, “Why don’t you come up with something, Wilson. Do you think Ruby even has any rights left considering that her memory is going to be wiped without her consent or knowledge?”
Wilson spoke in a calm tone after a good long while, “We’ve signed our rights away the moment we chose to walk this life. Joan, just wipe her memory that is related to Frost Blade. This memory is only going to be a burden for both her and Blaine to carry.”
Joan nodded before putting on her personal protective equipment and entering the intensive care unit...
