After a week when Blaine had taken care of his assignment in A Country, he received a phone call from Kingswood Mansion.
“Not good, Master Blaine. Miss Softie is missing!”
Blaine’s heart trembled as he had a bad feeling about this. He asked, “When was this?”
Aunt Heather said, “Recently, Miss Softie will take Hahah out for a jog after dinner and we’re all used to her routine already so we didn’t really pay much attention to her leaving the house since she’ll jog for an hour or two at most before returning home. However, after Miss Softie exited the house at seven, Hahah was the only one that returned at nine.”
Blaine frowned as he loosened the tie around his neck and said, “Then why didn’t you call me about this last night?”
“I did but your phone was switched off last night.”
Blaine gritted his teeth as he thought about his phone being switched off during his meeting with A Country’s president. It was the reason why no one was able to contact him then.
After hanging up the call, Blaine immediately contacted the Dark Organization and made Dark Shadow settle the investigation. Ever since the previous debacle, the first person that came to his mind was Paul.
It did not take long for Old K to call him back. “Master Blaine, we’ve got nothing from Paul’s end so it’s unlikely that Paul was the one who kidnapped Miss Softie. Besides, ever since the previous ordeal, Paul would most probably not be bold enough to do anything else this time.”
“Deploy more men to search the entirety of Glacier City and R Country. Inform me the instant you discovered anything about her.”
“Yes, sir.”
…
After Blaine had taken care of everything he had to do in A Country, he immediately flew back to R Country on a private plane.
Old K had already arrived back at Kingswood Mansion. He followed behind Blaine and was getting ready to report to him about the recent progress.
However, Blaine interrupted him before he could speak. “Have you found Softie yet?”
“... No, not yet.”
Blaine’s expression turned bitter as he questioned, “How many men have you deployed for the search?”
“More than three thousand private militias and agents…” Old K stuttered out in reply.
Blaine took his tie off before throwing it on the couch and exclaimed with an extremely sinister cold look, “Deploy more men. Don’t come back to meet me if you guys can’t locate where Softie is in three days!”
Old K was nervously sweating bullets, his back completely drenched in cold sweats. As much as he wanted to speak his mind, he bit his tongue since he dared not to speak up while Blaine was completely consumed by his rage.
“Master Blaine…”
Blaine was unusually agitated as he exclaimed impatiently, “Is there anything else?”
Old K stuttered nervously, “Master Blaine, what if… What if we can’t locate where Miss Softie actually is?”
Although the Dark Organization’s influence was vast and covered every corner of the world, Old K was somehow unable to shake the feeling of them being unable to locate Softie.
“Don’t even think about meeting me ever again if you’re unable to find her.”
Old K was speechless.
Oh, no. He should never have asked that question.
The Dark Organization deployed more people in the search. After completely uprooting the entirety of Glacier City and R Country and finding nothing, they expanded their search to other countries around the world.
However, all the effort spent ended up to no avail. They found nothing in the last three days…
It was as if Softie had completely vanished from the face of the Earth.
If Softie were a regular woman, locating her when she left R Country or even Glacier City alone would be nothing more than a cakewalk since she would have left behind some sort of trail to which route she had taken to which airport. As long as she had left the house, she would leave a trail behind.
However, not a single person deployed from the Dark Organization was able to find anything even till this moment. This showed that the person who had kidnapped Softie was no simple man.
However, Blaine seemed to have realized something when they were unable to find out anything from their search.
Blaine’s phone rang on his desk in his study.
Blaine frowned before picking up the call.
“... Yes, sir.”
After both Old K and Dark Shadow left, Blaine was the only one left in the room.
As Blaine sat by his desk, he began recalling the memories he had with Softie during the night they shared at the cave in Easthill Valley. She was buried so lovingly in his arms. Such real forms of love could never be faked.
Even the way she looked at him felt serious. That could never be faked. Such real emotions could never be faked.
Love was the only emotion a person could not hide when two people were intimately in love with each other.
Even if she was lying when she came to his side, he felt the need to personally ask her about the truth.
…
At the Light Organization’s base of operations in Z Country.
In the five days Ruby returned to the Light Organization, she was unfocused and lost.
She was sitting on the observation deck above the training field as she stared at the nearby agents while they trained. She was lost in her thoughts.
She failed to notice even when Wilson approached her.
“What are you thinking about? Are you thinking about whether Frost Blade will actually come and save you or not?”
Ruby was startled and by the time she snapped out of her trance, Wilson was already sitting beside her.
“I was only thinking about why the Director would do that. Wouldn’t this make us seem very lowly and underhanded?”
Wilson chuckled as he looked at her. He said, “Lowly? Ruby, you’ve never described anyone as lowly in the past. Are you worried about Frost Blade? Are you just biased because of your feelings for him, which is why you think the Director’s methods are underhanded?”
“But toying with someone’s feelings isn’t the Light Organization’s way.”
Wilson also disagreed with the Director’s method this time, so he asked, “Will you leave with Frost Blade if he actually showed up to rescue you?”
