Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 658

Serene had a good memory. She could recognize almost all of them.

Everyone had aged. The men had beer bellies, and the ladies started to use makeup; some did not change much, while the others had drastic changes.

When they took their seats, a few ladies started to chat with Serene.

"Serene, you're working in the hospital, right?"

"Yes, I used to, but I'm no longer with them," Serene replied cheerfully.

One of the ladies joked. "Looks like the hospital fed you well! Look at how big you've become!"

Another lady frowned. "Come on. No one likes to hear that they've put on weight!"

Serene blushed. They were going back and forth when Wilson, who was next to her, said lightly, "Serene's not fat; she's pregnant."

The ladies were stunned. Then they said, "Congratulations! Who would've thought that you'd get married so early! We used to think that you had issues in the love department."

"But, Serene, you're already pregnant, and yet there was no invite to your wedding? We'll wait for the baby's full moon, then!"

Serene nodded. "Sure! I lost all of your contacts!"

"Let's exchange contacts, then!"

Serene mingled with them happily.

"Serene, your husband is so good looking! What does he do?"

"He looks like a doctor."

Serene stole a glance at Wilson. He looked very handsome, indeed. His graceful hands made him look like he either played the piano or operated on people.

One of them patted Serene on the shoulder and said, "Marcus Kraft is not married yet. He had asked us about you; it seems he still likes you."

Marcus Kraft? He was Serene's most devoted follower when they were still in middle school.

He was a transfer student; that was why he was always bullied. Serene used to stand up for him, and they became good friends.

They tried to maintain contact with each other when they left for different high schools. However, Serene lost his contact after that. Eventually, Marcus was no more involved in Serene's life.

She did not notice him when they entered the room.

"Didn't you see Marcus stealing glances at you?"

Serene felt a little awkward; she gulped her juice and said, "How is that possible? I'm married. Furthermore, there was nothing between us."

"You might think that, but Marcus probably thinks otherwise. I heard that he had just come back from the USA. Once he was back, he asked about you. However, someone told him that you got married."

"Yeah, you're his forbidden fruit."

Serene was nervous when she heard that. She was never on anyone's mind, except for Wilson.

Shortly after, Wilson said outside the room, "Serene, Mother called to tell us to head home."

Serene acknowledged Wilson's message. She waved at Marcus and said, "I have to go now. I'll talk to you next time?" Then she turned and left.

Marcus finally relaxed; his fists were tightly clenched in his pockets. It no longer mattered what the message said. She was happily married. Perhaps it was not their destiny to be together.

On the way back, Wilson looked at Serene. "Why have I not heard about this Marcus?"

Serene laughed gently. "He was a transfer student in my class, and he used to be bullied by other classmates. I helped him out a few times, so we had quite a good relationship with each other."

"Relationship?" Wilson emphasized.

Serene looked at Wilson and quickly rectified, "I meant friendship! Wait a minute. A relationship can mean many other things; it does not have to be a romantic one!"

"You wanted the relationship to be a romantic one?" Wilson pushed.

Serene waved her hands in denial. "No! No! I only treated him as a good friend, I swear!"

"Do you now? Why do I hear a hint of guilty conscience in your voice?"

Serene was speechless. It was not a guilty conscience!
