One of the Dark Organization's men met with Wilson. They made plans to infiltrate the Dark Cabinet when its defense is at its weakest—at night.
Before he left, Wilson went to see Serene again.
"Serene, I will get the antidote and come back to you in one piece," he said.
Serene's eyes twitched in response. Wilson laughed softly and took her hand. He said, "I know, you must've heard that, right?" Then he bent down to kiss her on the forehead.
…
Somewhere near the Dark Cabinet. Wilson and Ruby led the team for the infiltration.
Wilson whispered, "Let's split up to look for Stephen."
Ruby smiled. Then she whistled. Wilson was worried that it would attract attention, but a silhouette suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Wilson cocked his gun and aimed it at the person who approached them. It was the leader of the Dark Cabinet, Christoph Messer.
Ruby stopped Wilson. "He's one of us," she said.
Ruby asked Christoph, "Where are the puppet assassins?"
Christoph replied, "Stephen created many puppet assassins; they are all in the dungeon. I can't take you there. If I were to leave, Stephen would get suspicious. Here's the key. Those puppet assassins are dangerous, so be careful."
Ruby took the key from Christoph. "We will. Thank you."
Wilson and Ruby were familiar with the Dark Cabinet; they knew the way to the dungeon.
"When did you turn Christoph to our side?"
Ruby raised her eyebrow. "I can turn a person in a jiff."
Wilson nodded. "It only works because you're gorgeous."
Ruby was struck dumb.
Wilson and Ruby climbed onto the top of the dungeon. There was a glass opening so they could see the puppet assassins below them.
Most of the puppet assassins were ordinary people. They were locked up in a giant cage, like animals. However, due to the drugs and microchips in them, many of them had already lost their minds and humanity—they were more like zombies. Some of them hit the cage with their body and head. There was blood everywhere, and yet they did not feel pain.
Even someone as cold-blooded as Ruby shuddered at the scene. She clenched her fist and growled, "Stephen is completely mad! To be able to live another day is a blessing from God!"
Wilson looked at the puppet assassins in the dungeon with pity. "I wish we could rescue them."
"But the dungeon is heavily guarded. We won't be able to do it today. Don't forget our main purpose—we save a few puppets, cure them, let them accuse Stephen in front of the President, and then force Stephen to step down."
Wilson pursed his lips. "Let's stick to our plan then."
Wilson and Ruby waited for Heaton and Thompson's signal. They were to distract the guards and doctors.
It was 11.20 pm. Heaton and Thompson arrived just as planned, and they managed to distract the guards. When the coast was clear, Ruby and Wilson jumped down from the top of the dungeon.
Wilson knocked all of the doctors out, while Ruby opened one of the cages. When they saw her, one of the puppet assassins rushed out to attack her. They needed the puppet assassins alive, so she could not shoot them; she could only wrestle them. Luckily, Wilson took out his taser and knocked them unconscious.
An alarm rang outside.
"They've noticed us. Let's go!" Wilson and Ruby carried one unconscious puppet assassin on their backs and rushed out of the dungeon.
The moment the car stopped, Ruby jumped down and ran back to the area. Heaton and Thompson followed her, too. Their friend was still at the Dark Cabinet, so they had to do something.
Old K looked at Frost Blade in confusion when they had left. "Leader, do we continue forward or head back?"
Frost Blade gritted his teeth and said, "Bunch of fools! They are so emotional! No wonder they were labeled as traitors!"
Old K could not hide his curiosity. He asked, "Leader, you shouldn't have come on this mission. You could've just sent us here. It's quite dangerous for you to be here."
Frost Blade's eyes were filled with pride. He pursed his lips and said, "I've not done this for quite some time. I was getting bored."
Old K did not have a reply for that.
Was that his leader's purpose for that mission? Or was it because of Black Rose? Of course, Old K did not dare mention any of that.
…
At the Dark Cabinet.
Wilson was in the drug storage facility. There were thousands of different drugs there. If Wilson were not a doctor, he would not have known where to look.
After about half an hour, Wilson finally found the antidote! However, when he lifted the vial, it triggered an alarm. The entire storage room was heavily guarded.
Wilson jumped. He had fallen for Stephen's trap!
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Slow applauses came from afar; it was from Stephen. He said, "You are very courageous. You dared to come for the antidote by yourself. I did not know you liked that girl that much, Aret. And you are willing to die for her."
