Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 585

On their journey back to the Light Organization’s base of operations from their campsite.

Since this was not the first time Serene had been in the Light Organization’s base of operations, she thought about Joan when Wilson was called to meet up with Stephen. Because of this, she headed to the med-bay to look for her.

“Joan!”

The instant Joan turned around after hearing her voice, she could see Serene’s gleeful little face.

Joan smiled and seemed a little surprised as she asked, “What are you doing here?”

Serene replied with a smile, “It’s a long story. I’ve returned with Wilson.”

“So it seems Wilson didn’t push you away nor abandon you.”

Serene blushed slightly as she said, “Hey, Joan, let me tell you a secret.”

“What is it?”

Serene inched closer next to her ear, placed her little hands next to it, and whispered in a cheerful tone, “I’m pregnant.”

Joan looked surprised as she said, “Not bad, Serene. Nice speed though.”

Serene was flustered by her comment and replied in a bashful tone, “Hey, Joan, please don’t tell anyone about this, okay? Premarital pregnancy isn’t anything for me to feel proud of. I’m telling you because I feel close to you.”

“Oh, don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me. It’s for the sake of you and Wilson’s happiness. Not to mention, Wilson has basically accumulated eight lifetimes’ worth of good fortune with you.”

Serene was like a little ray of sunshine. She was cheerful and very energetic, while appearing quite elegant. Although she was not incredibly attractive, she emanated the warmth and elegance of a young woman. She had quite the positive personality.

Serene was flustered from being praised so highly. “Maybe I’ve saved the Milky Way in my past life to have met such an amazing person like Wilson.”

Wilson had a serious look on his face after his conversation with Stephen.

His godfather’s words were still ringing in his ears…

“Wilson, I won’t stop you if you want to get married and have kids since this is a very normal human thing to do. However, you need to remember that as a killer, we’re not supposed to have attachments nor weaknesses.”

“It’s dangerous for her when your feelings for her grow deeper, you know.”

“Remember my words. Perhaps someday, you’ll regret all of this.”

When Serene walked out of the med-bay, she went over to look for Wilson and noticed he was sitting alone by the stairs. He had a very complicated look on his face as if he was thinking about something.

His alertness to his surroundings was usually quite high. This time however, he did not realize when Serene was behind him.

He only realized her presence when she suddenly tried to scare him with a silly look.

“What are you thinking about to be so lost in your head? You didn’t even notice when I approached you.”

Wilson was stunned. He snapped out of his trance slightly as he looked at the woman’s tender little face.

Serene reached out and waved her hands in front of Wilson’s face before exclaiming, “Wilson Jarret! What’s wrong with you? Did your godfather refuse to let us be together?”

“No.”

Ruby chuckled as she held onto the liquor bottle. She teared up slightly as she replied, “I truly hope a day like that won’t come.”

“Things like these have happened before in the Light Organization. Even when it happens, it won’t be the last. My godfather has killed his best friend with his own hands back then.”

Ruby frowned slightly as she said, “Are you talking about the Assistant Leader?”

“Yeah, there were rumors about the Assistant Leader being a traitor to the organization by working with the Underworld Organization. Hence, the Light Organization had gone all out to murder the Assistant Leader. However, due to the passage of time, who knows who is right since history is often written by its victors, right?”

Ruby said, “If someday, we realized the Leader is completely different from the person we’d imagined, do you think we’d also be labeled as traitors?”

Wilson chuckled as he said, “If there’s a day like that in the future, it would most probably be for me. I’m not afraid of becoming a traitor. I’m only afraid of losing everything I hold dear.”

“Wilson, there’s something… I need to tell you. When you were severely poisoned back at the campsite, I wasn’t the person who found and picked the Southern Star herb. It was Serene. She risked her life to bring it back. When I found her, she was surrounded by wolves and nearly died.”

Wilson’s heart trembled violently.

So that was why she had nightmares about being devoured by a pack of wolves that night?

He clenched his fists, his emotions raging in his chest.

When Wilson was about to leave, Ruby stood up and called out to him. “Wilson, Serene is a good girl. I wish the both of you well.”

“You’re a good woman too. Someday, you’ll find your own Achilles Heel.”

Ruby laughed and said, “Oh, I don’t want one. An Achilles Heel will make me weak.”

“Sure, it’ll make us weak but at the same time, we’ll become a pillar of strength for someone else.”
