Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 415

There was a white, pure-cotton camisole neatly folded in the drawer.

It was the camisole Serene took off to dress his wounds.

Even though ten years had passed, he still cherished it.

He could never forget the soft, warm hug the little girl gave her in the cold night...

...

The next morning, Serene went to the hospital with red, puffy eyes that were swollen like a peach.

In fact, she wanted to take leave today as she did not want to face Wilson. However, if she was to avoid him today, how about the rest of the days then? She could not skip her internship, right?

She deliberated over it for a while and in the end, she decided to go to the hospital albeit feeling reluctant.

Immediately after arriving at the hospital, she changed into her formal attire. As she stepped out of the dressing room, some of her colleagues approached her and teased her.

“Serene, what did you do last night? Why are your eyes so swollen?”

Serene huffed, “I went hunting for ghosts.”

Her colleagues laughed and joked, “You should go to the infirmary and apply a cold pack on your eyes later. You look quite scary. It won’t be good if you frighten the patients.”

“Okay, I’ll head there later.”

“Oh ya, Director Jarret is on leave today. You will learn from Dr. Horner today.”

Serene was stunned. Wilson did not come to work today?

Strangely, she felt a painful prick in her heart.

Was he trying to avoid her?

However, it was better this way. It would be best if he did not come to work these few days just to avoid being too awkward with each other when meeting face-to-face.

The moment she recalled that he had a wife, she felt a weak, dull pain in her heart.

Serene could not fall asleep during her lunch break. Few of her colleagues were watching a drama beside her and were having a quiet discussion.

“This mistress is nasty. She knew that he has a wife and yet she still clings to him. What a shameful woman.”

“Mistresses nowadays want to claim to be in chastity after becoming a b*tch.”

“The wife is such a coward. She witnessed her husband having sex with the mistress and yet she was unwilling to divorce. If I were her, I would’ve immediately gotten a divorce. What’s the point of the marriage anyway?”

Serene supported her chin with her hand while listening to her colleagues ridiculing the characters.

As she recalled the situation that happened yesterday, she still felt extremely abashed.

Her phone suddenly rang and it was from an unknown caller.

As she picked up the call, a familiar voice of a woman sounded over the phone.

“Ms. Ludd, I’m Mrs. Jarret. Let’s meet up and have a talk.”

Even though the woman claimed to be Mrs. Jarret, she was in disdain to even mention her name to Serene.

Clearly enough, she was a menacing woman and was not someone who can be easily provoked.

Serene went to the cafe they agreed to meet up and from afar, she could spot Ruby sitting at one of the tables, drinking coffee leisurely. She seemed like she had been waiting for quite some time.

“Mrs. Jarret.”

Ruby raised her brows and said, “Have a seat.”

Serene sat opposite to her. She felt a little uneasy as after all, she felt guilty for ruining Ruby’s relationship. She absolutely did not know that Wilson was already married and if she knew, she definitely would not have any close contact with him. Not to mention… having sex with him.

Ruby took her own sweet time to evenly mix the cup of coffee in front of her with a golden spoon. She then started the conversation in an arrogant demeanor. “I came to meet you today as I didn’t want to beat around the bush. As Wilson’s wife, after catching my husband having sex with someone else, as a woman, you should understand how I feel.”

Serene gulped. While fidgeting her hands on her lap, she felt nervous, restless and an enormous sense of guilt deep in her heart.

Feeling shameful, she lowered her face and apologized, “I’m sorry, Mrs. Jarret. I didn’t know that Wilson is married. I…”

“Since you now know that he’s a man with a family, don’t contact him anymore in the future. Oh, by the way, I heard that you and him are working in the same hospital. Is that true?”

Serene was startled. As Serene was deliberating on how to answer Ruby, Ruby took out a card from her handbag and slid it toward her. “The password is 0000. There’s sufficient money inside to support yourself financially. Quit your current job and leave North City. Don’t let him see you anymore.”

“Mrs. Jarret…”

Serene tried to take her bag but Wilson did not let go of it. With force, she hauled the bag toward her but to no avail.

“What are you doing? Let it go.”

Wilson looked deeply into her eyes. His gaze was soft and gentle. In the end, he let go of his hand and passed the bag to her.

Serene was panting in anger. She did not want to be seen together with him anymore and hence grabbed the bag and turned around to leave right away. However, Wilson grabbed her wrist tightly.

“Babe, I’m going to Italy tomorrow. While I’m away, you have to take good care of yourself.”

“...”

Serene retracted her hand from his grip. She looked at him coldly. “Don’t call me by my nickname anymore. Someone will misunderstand our relationship if they heard you calling me by my nickname. We’re not a couple and you have a wife at home. Our meet up today is just an unexpected event. I will never find you anymore in the future.”

Serene hugged the bag in her arms and left hastily. As she walked two steps ahead, she turned around and said, “Oh, by the way, Mrs. Jarret loves you and cares a lot about you. I wish you two a long and happy life together. I also hope that you won’t spend your time outside looking for other girls to fool around with anymore.”

Wilson took a deep breath, trying to suppress the rage and pain within him.

Long and happy life together?

He never knew that a soft-hearted girl like Serene could say such malicious words too.

As Wilson returned to his condominium, he realized Ruby had barged into his house again.

“Who allowed you to freely enter my house?”

“I’m your wife. Isn’t it normal for a wife to drop by your place?”

Wilson clenched his teeth and said in an icy-cold tone, “Ruby, when I’m back in Italy, I will apply for divorce.”

“I will not agree to it.”

“Let’s see what happens then. We shall wait and see who’s stronger, me or you.”

Ruby was stunned. She turned around and looked at him seriously. “Aret, wouldn’t it be good if we’re together? We can share our ups and downs together. Can Serene even do that? She’s just a normal person and you? What kind of person are you? Even if you get back together with her, do you think your relationship will last long? Only me and you are of the same kind, not Serene.”

“Ruby, don’t use your fallacious reasonings to guilt-trip me. The reason why I agreed to obtain a marriage certificate with you at that time was merely for the sake of our undercover mission.”
