Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 407

It was in the hospital.

Wilson got changed and was preparing to clock out. As he exited his office, he saw Serene, who was carrying her backpack, squatting down on the ground with hands cupping her face as she waited for him.

“Let’s go.”

The man reached out his hand to hold hers. Serene stood up and stared at him timidly.

Wilson frowned as he saw her standing still. “What’s wrong?”

“I… Do I really have to stay over at your place tonight?”

She was pondering over the question when she was waiting for Wilson earlier and she thought that it might not be appropriate for her to stay over. Although they were already a couple, she felt that they had not reached that stage yet.

Moreover, she did not want Wilson to think that she was that kind of woman who would simply spend the night with him.

Wilson lowered his head and looked at her. His gaze was gentle yet provocative.

“Tomorrow’s Saturday and I don’t want to be alone. Moreover, I will have to pick you up from your house if you’re going back tonight.”

“I… I can take the subway to your house tomorrow.”

Wilson immediately grabbed the strap of her bag and dragged her forcefully toward the exit. “It’s not convenient.”

Serene stumbled as she followed him from behind. Instead of dragging her strap, Wilson simply pulled her into his embrace. Just like that, they hugged their way to the exit.

Serene’s face was flushed red. Her eyes darted around quickly and said, “Hey… we’re still in the hospital! Our friends might see us! I know how to walk by myself! Let me go…”

The man did not seem to care at all. Instead, he had a disdainful look on his face, “What does it matter if someone sees us? Am I a disgrace to you?”

Serene was speechless.

Her lips twitched and said, “I am a disgrace to you. Are you happy now?”

Wilson was in a good mood. His lips curled upward slightly yet he did not let go of her.

He pressed down on her head and forced her into the passenger seat. Serene hugged her bag tightly.

Wilson entered the car. Looking at her guilty expression, Wilson could not help but laugh.

He leaned over and was about to help her fasten her seatbelt but Serene immediately blocked him away defensively!

“What are you trying to do?”

“Well… what do you want me to do to you?”

Wilson raised his eyebrows. His dark eyes were looking at her in amusement, almost as if he was teasing her.

“How… how am I supposed to know what you’re trying to do? Watch your actions, we’re still in the hospital!”

As he stretched out his arm calmly to help her fasten her seatbelt, he was whispering into her ear, “I want to…”

Her cheeks and ears turned crimson red. “Ermm…”

Her hands were pushing Wilson’s face away as she moved backwards. “It’s not really appropriate to do this!”

A teasing look flashed across his eyes. Then, Serene heard the sound of a click as her seatbelt was buckled. She was stunned for a few seconds before lifting her head.

Her dewy eyes met Wilson’s deep gaze.

The man flicked her forehead with his slender fingers and said, “What were you thinking? Give me your bag.”

“Oh…”

Wilson took her bag and tossed it to the back seat.

Serene reminded him, “Be gentle! My laptop is inside my bag!”

“I’ll buy you a new one if it’s broken.”

Serene snorted, “You think you’re so great just because you have money?”

“Having money alone is not something to be proud of.”

Having a lot of money was something one should be proud of yet Wilson held himself back from saying that. He did not want to scare her away too soon.

Serene said, “I still have my thesis in that laptop. My lecturer told me this morning that I have some amendments to make. You reminded me that I still have to work on my thesis tonight. It’s really so annoying.”

Dejected, she leaned against the car window. She mumbled unenthusiastically,

“Amending my thesis is really the most painful thing to do in the world. I still have to check the percentage of plagiarism…”

Wilson did not answer her question. Instead, he reached out his hand and rubbed her head. Then, he asked her while he continued driving, “What do you want to have for dinner tonight?”

Serene tilted her head toward the window and sighed intentionally, “I’m not in the mood to eat.”

She wanted to act pathetic, hoping that it would work. Her lecturer did not approve her thesis no matter how much she amended it. If only Wilson could help her work on it… hmmm…

“Well, I’ll get a coke then.”

Wilson held out his hand. Verian was stunned for a second and said, “I thought you didn’t want anything to drink? I’ll get you another one if you want one.”

The man had already taken the coke from her hand. He opened the can swiftly with his slender fingers. When the can was opened, a hissing sound could be heard.

Then, Wilson handed back the opened can to Verian.

“I can open it by myself.”

She was not a delicate woman. In fact, she was quite strong.

The man appeared exceptionally proud of himself and said, “I know, but I like to open cans. Do you have a problem with that?”

Serene was speechless.

As Serene was drinking her coke from her straw, she was observing the surroundings. She stole a few glances at the elegant man who appeared a bit uncomfortable being in such an environment. He seemed unhappy.

She would be doomed if he refused to help her with her thesis because he was in a bad mood.

Serene grabbed her stool and quietly moved closer to him. She moved closer and closer to him…

Biting on her straw, she said in a soft voice, “Next time, I’ll let you help me open the cap even if it’s just a bottle of mineral water, alright?”

Wilson replied with a soft hum after a few seconds.

Serene cracked a smile and stole a few glances at his side profile. She thought, ‘It wasn’t that hard to make him happy.’

Serene thoroughly enjoyed her spicy hot pot when it was served. Her lips were stained red.

Wilson was not a big fan of such food. He took a few bites and thought it was not that bad but he did not enjoy it as much as Serene did.

Serene loved the gluten buns in the spicy hot pot. Wilson noticed that because he kept seeing her scooping the buns from the soup.

The man put his buns into her bowl.

Serene was satisfied with her dinner, but seeing Wilson not eating much, she said, “Let’s go out for a fancy meal tomorrow. We’ll go for something you like to eat!”

For example, maybe those expensive and authentic French or Japanese cuisine?

Wilson lowered his gaze. With a gentle and deep gaze, he stared at the girl who was enjoying her hotpot. He felt something warm filling up his heart.
