Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 355

“Why did both of you get divorced?” asked Yandel.

At this point, Verian thought it was somehow ridiculous. Her lips curled into a smile and she laughed, “It was actually just a misunderstanding, but thanks to this misunderstanding, I finally got to know his actual feelings for me.”

“Don’t you miss him?”

“Of course I do, but I’m trying my very best to control myself.”

Looking at Verian’s serious face, Yandel could not help but to laugh at her, “If you really want to see him, I can send someone to kidnap him here.”

Verian knew that Yandel was trying to lighten up the mood and make her feel better, “I don’t want to see him. I’m afraid that I would want to make up with him when I see him.”

“Alright then, if he ever comes searching for you, I’ll chase him away for you.”

Verian stared at him blankly. She never thought that Yandel could be such a doting person.

Yandel raised his eyebrows, “You don’t believe in me?”

Of course not, Verian was just wondering what a god-like brother he was.

A brother that would make her supper, listen to all of her problems, and would unconditionally support every decision she made.

She must have saved the universe in her past life so God rewarded her with a nice brother like him.

...

The next morning, Yandel woke up and Xylean was pretending to be asleep.

“Leanie, get up, it’s time for breakfast.”

Xylean pulled the sheets over her head as she mumbled sleepily, “I want to sleep a little longer and I don’t feel like eating, you go ahead and have breakfast yourself.”

“Eat your breakfast before 10A.M., I’ll ask Aunt Yen to wake you up.”

Xylean immediately stuck her head out of the quilt as she heard Yandel’s word, “Where are you going?”

Her eyes were sparkling. Did she want him to go out so eagerly?

Yandel was tying his necktie, “I’m bringing Rainie to visit mother in the hospital.”

“Oh.”

Yandel was done tying his necktie. He sat next to Xylean on the bed, pulled her up and hugged her. Then, he spoke in a soft yet magnetic voice, “You just came home, so be a good girl. Rainie just got back and mother’s health is getting worse day by day. I’ll be busy these few days so I won’t have much time to accompany you. Behave yourself and don’t make it worry, alright?”

Other girls would have been carried away by his doting and sweet behavior, but Xylean knew Yandel too well. Although he was being nice, he was indirectly telling her, ‘You just got back, so don’t try to run away again. I would do anything to stop you from leaving.’

Xylean forced a smile at him, “Go do your stuff now. I won’t do anything stupid.”

The man pinched her tender cheeks lightly with his long fingers.

Xylean stared at his back and touched her cheeks where he just pinched, “Such a sweet talker.”

Although it seemed like Yandel was a sweet and polite gentleman, only Xylean knew how ill-hearted he was.

...

As they were on their way to the hospital, Verian could not help but ask, “What kind of disease is Madam Gaunt suffering from?”

“You’ll know when you get there.”

Yandel remained silent throughout the journey. Even Yale who was always talkative was very quiet.

Madam Gaunt kept staring at Verian with loving eyes, “Rainie, your brother and I were searching for you for so many years. There were times when I thought that we would never find you….Rainie, do you hold a grudge against us?”

“Of course not. You’re not the one who abandoned me, why would I hold a grudge against you?”

Hearing her daughter calling her madam politely, it felt too distant. Madam Gaunt felt uncomfortable. However, she did not want to make things difficult for VErian as she just got back.

“That’s great. Rainie, mother missed you a lot throughout these years. Let me take a good look at you.”

Verian could not help it but asked, “By the way, Madam, what happened? Why are you admitted to the hospital?”

Madam Gaunt stunned for a moment, “Oh, it seems like Yandel hasn't told you about this. It’s just a normal cold and fever. My body is quite weak but don’t worry about it, I will be discharged in a few days.”

However, Verian thought it did not seem like she was just suffering from a simple fever. Yet she did not probe further into it.

...

After Madam Gaunt fell asleep, Verian and Yandel left the ward.

“When will Madam be discharged?”

Yandel knitted his eyebrows. He looked at her with solemn eyes, “Rainie, mother is actually suffering from leukemia. She doesn’t want to worry you, that’s why she lied to you. Before you came, mother told me many times to keep this a secret from you. However, a secret cannot be kept forever, so I’m not planning to keep it from you.”

“Leukemia? Have you found a compatible bone marrow yet?” Verian asked anxiously.

“In most situations, bone marrow from immediate relatives has a higher possibility to be compatible; but I took the test and mine doesn’t match.”

Verian asked subconsciously, “Would mine be compatible?”

Yandel’s eyes darkened, “Rainie, are you really willing to do this?”
