Back to the hospital in North City.
As Heaton woke up, his body seemed to have fallen apart. It was as though someone moved limbs and had forgotten to put them back in place. His head hurt the most. Sore and throbbing, it felt like it was about to split into half.
Kush looked at him worriedly. “Boss, you’re finally awake.”
Heaton recalled that he hit the railing on the side of the road as he had a stomach ache on the way to the airport. Then, Xavier appeared.
He also could also remember clearly that after Xavier appeared, he claimed his identity and divorced Verian.
“Boss, how do you feel? I’ll go get a doctor.”
After the doctor came and checked on him, he said, “Mr. Heaton is not in a serious condition. Did he faint suddenly because he was overworking himself? It seems like he needs more rest as he might be overworking himself.”
Heaton knew why he fainted all of a sudden in the meeting room. His frown deepened as he gazed at the platinum wedding ring on his finger.
After the doctor left, Heaton said, “Get me discharged right away.”
“But Boss, you just woke up, you should be kept under observation for at least a few days. Are you sure it’s fine for you to be discharged now?”
Heaton spoke in a certain tone, “I fainted because Xavier took over my body.”
“What do you mean? You're saying that Xavier was the person who appeared these few days?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Kush was shocked, “I didn’t even realize, but how could Xavier’s behavior resemble you so much? He even asked me to send someone to find his wife’s wedding ring.”
“Wilson mentioned before that there may be a state of fusion between personalities.”
“Fusion?” Kush got even more confused.
“The fact that Riana left actually triggered my brain and mental state. I think my multiple personalities will be healed very soon.”
Kush said, “So, the most important thing that could heal your multiple split personalities is the influence of your wife on you.”
In that case, It was not that hard to understand at all.
After all, Verian had already become a very significant person in Heaton’s life.
She may have too much impact on Heaton’s emotions.
“Check my wife’s whereabouts right away. I am afraid she already left Florence.”
“Yes, boss.”
...
On the first night when Verian arrived at South City, she suffered from insomnia.
She was lying on a soft big bed but she couldn’t fall asleep. She was thinking about meeting Madam Gaunt tomorrow. At the same time, she could not help but to miss Heaton.
Tossing around in the bed, she felt thirsty in the end. She got dressed and went downstairs to the kitchen to pour herself a cup of water.
It was strange. Recently, she kept feeling hungry and thirsty in the middle of the night although she ate a lot during the day.
After she was done gulping down a cup of water, footsteps came from the living room.
“It’s so late and you’re not asleep yet?”
It was Yandel.
He donned a light blue cotton home wear which looked a lot more cordial than his formal clothes in the daytime.
Verian had yet to figure out how to get along with her unfamiliar brother, “Oh, I felt a little bit thirsty, so I came down to get some water. Did I wake you up?”
“No. The soundproof effect in our room is really good.”
Verian was caught off guard by the sudden public display of affection. It wrenched her heart. She lowered her head and ate her noodles. Then, she said casually, “I really envy Leanie.”
Yandel kept silent as his gaze fell on the diamond ring on her ring finger.
“I owe Leanie a lot.”
Verian knew what he meant, “But no matter how deep-rooted your conflicts are, both of you are still together. Even though Leanie often runs away from home, you brought her back every single time, right? Probably because you can find her every time, it gave her the confidence to run away from home.”
A faint smile appeared on Yandel’s face. He thought that her viewpoint was quite new, “You make sense, but if she leaves me and I don’t look for her, she will never come back. I had no other choice. Xylean is too important to me. I don’t have any pride in front of Xylean.”
Suddenly, Verian felt pity for her brother, “Well, if you really meet the right person, pride and dignity are nothing.”
“But the humble one in love always suffers.”
Verian stirred the noodles in the bowl with her chopsticks absent-mindedly, “But you probably never thought of letting her go, right?”
“This problem never came across my mind.”
Xylean who was sleeping upstairs woke up in the middle of the night and saw Yandel missing. She walked out of the room and saw Yandel and Verian having their supper in the living room from the second floor.
She naturally heard their conversation. Her fingers on the wall clenched involuntarily as she felt a wave of emotions washing over her. She turned back and entered the room.
Downstairs, Verian pouted and said, “That is why I envy Leanie. At least your feelings for her are unwavering no matter what happened.”
“The guy who gave you the diamond ring; is his feelings for you not strong enough?”
Yandel was very straightforward and immediately, Verian’s eyes darkened.
“I really want to know more about you, but if you don’t feel comfortable telling me about it, I won’t force you. But I want you to know that I’m always here to lend you an ear.”
Verian pursed her lips as she lowered her gloomy eyes. Then, she said, “We’re divorced. I used to think that our relationship is unwavering, and I truly felt the feeling of being firmly chosen by a person. To me, merely liking someone is not enough because even though he likes me, it will not prevent him from liking other people. But when it comes to talking about love, things are different. Loving and firmly choosing only one person, as well as never falling in love with another person; I desire to have such a relationship, but it seems like the time is not here yet.”
