After Yanny left, Shayne started to have more business dinners.

The truth was, for someone in Shayne's position and Jinn Group's influence in the country, there was no need for him to rely on business dinners to build any connections with anyone at all.

Businessmen who attended a business dinner could be divided into three types of people.

The first would be those who were only making a living to provide for their families. They would rely on countless business dinners to build shallow connections with people and after they had successfully strengthened any form of connection they had with people of higher status, they would ask to help them with small favors that would only require a single nod or a word from them.

The second type would be people who were always associated with the third type of people. The second group of people would have amassed wealth that would far exceed the normal limits of a middle-class person. However, they had not reached the upper-class yet since their talents and abilities could not support their inflating greedy desires. They would possess more than ten million bucks worth of assets and they would be known as wealthy to regular people. They would often fluctuate between going completely bankrupt and making a lot of money. Their earnings were unstable. They fluctuated between making a lot of money in a quarter and losing money in the next. The wealth of these people were so insignificant to the true wealthy people that destroying their company would be as easy as crushing an ant.

The third would be people like Shayne. They were people who had achieved true wealth and people of the upper elite class like them were basically worshipped by everyone in any dinner events they attended because these people were viewed as everyone's god of wealth.

The fourth kind of people would appear occasionally in dinner events and they were the hostesses. They would often dress up and pretend to be celebrities and would slip their way in to mingle with the upper elites. They were not talented in having fun or drinking at all and their main purpose was simple. All they wanted was to reel in a big fish that would be able to take care and pay for their living expenses for the rest of their lives. It did not matter to them if those big fishes had a wife or not.

The most important thing to them was whether or not the big fish would share some money they had with them.

As playful as Shayne was in the past, he would not even entertain pointless dinner events like these since he would only attend those that were organized by his friends.

However, it was unsure where Heaton had found himself a daughter recently. The little motherless brat would often throw a fit and wanted to be fed. Hence, aside from his day job, Heaton had now become a stay at home father. It seemed that he was too far gone in being a stay at home father since he had completely disappeared from their group.

Cameron was busy filming movies all across the world and had even said that he wanted to leave behind his most permanent youth in his movies. Not only had he vanished off the grid, even his phone calls were all answered by his manager or assistant.

Lucas on the other hand was having the time of his life with his chubby looking fiance and had completely forgotten about him.

As for Rodney though… he had suddenly disappeared recently and even Shayne was unsure where he went. He previously tutored Samantha during school but after Samantha had entered university, he seemed to have completely vanished from the world.

Yanny had also left.

Just like that, Shayne had become a lonely old man.

The dinner event felt bland and uneventful.

A business owner from the next table approached Shayne to share a toast with him. Shayne was not paying much attention to it initially since there were just too many people that would want to butter up to him. It was only natural for him to act arrogantly and not socialize much.

However, things were different that day.

That was because the business owner brought along a woman that Shayne was not only familiar with, but he also shared the same blood as well. They were walking over to him with a smile from the table next to his.

While Mr. Webster came over with a wine glass, he introduced the woman to Shayne, "Long time no see, President Jinn. Let me introduce to you the CEO of the Haynes Corporation, President Maria Sanders…"

Before Mr. Webster could finish with the introduction, Shayne looked emotionless as he exclaimed in a cold tone, "Do I know you?"

Mr. Webster was stunned because according to reason, President Sanders was still President Jinn's own biological mother. How could President Jinn act this rude?

He only introduced Maria to Shayne because she happened to be Shayne's biological mother. However, he pretended to be unaware of it since he thought that if he could help mend their relationship when he was completely unaware of it, the business reward Webster Group would receive from Jinn Group would be unlimited.

However, it seemed that Mr. Webster was still unaware of how much Shayne and Maria hated each other as mother and son.

Maria was extremely calm after receiving Shayne's cold treatment. She was not embarrassed after Shayne ignored her as she extended her arm and cracked a gentle smile. She said, "Long time no see, Shayne."

Shayne cracked a mocking grin while he never once looked at Maria as he coldly said, "We shouldn't even be meeting each other, so there's no need for you to say, long time no see because I never hoped to meet you again. I hope that we won't meet each other again in my lifetime so that I'd be able to have a smooth life."

Maria gulped but maintained her warm smile as she said, "We'll just be business partners then. Do we really not have anything to talk about if we don't talk about our past or our relationship as mother and son? Haynes Corporation is doing quite well overseas in the recent years and we have successfully entered and controlled a huge portion of the local market. Are you really not interested in talking about benefits?"

'Haynes Corporation.'

It would be extremely unrealistic if Shayne paid absolutely no attention to who Maria married after leaving the Jinn family.

However, Shayne only casually probed into just what kind of charm did Maria's second husband have to reign more superior than Leo.

Answers showed that this was all the man could do.

Shayne's tense brows suddenly relaxed because he found what Maria said extremely funny. He said, "You didn’t feed breast milk to your baby when he needs it under the age of one. Now that he's thirty, you show up and tell him that you wanted to right all of your wrongs for him. Madam Sanders, don't you think you're being too funny right now?"

Make up for him? Would a thirty year old grown adult man lack what little maternal love Maria had?

Shayne's statement sounded very blunt and unforgiving. Maria was flustered and felt awfully embarrassed.

However, Shayne lowered his head and lazily fixed his sleeves buttons as he ignored how awful she felt. He decided to make her feel much worse as he spoke in a casual tone, "You only came to me because you wanted me to help clean up after Haynes Corporation. Stop lying about how you wanted to make up for me and Samantha. It disgusts me to listen to you. If you were to be open and begged me for help, perhaps I might even be willing to help Steven since you were once my mother. Well, just because we are merely related by blood, I don't wish to see you live in a horrible state for the remainder of your life as well.

"But you, you keep rambling about how you love me and Samantha. You get close to me and treat me like an idiot just to gain some benefits that you want from me. When I was ten, after my father's death and the day that you left with Steven, my grandpa told me that you'll never return again. I wasn't convinced at all. I ran out of the house with a pair of slippers and was chasing after your car. I lost my slippers and the bottom of my feet were completely bloodied. I refused to believe that you weren't able to notice me chasing after you from your rear view mirror. However, you never once stopped your car.

"I used to think about it all the time that if you had stopped your car just once when I ran after you in my bare feet back then, perhaps I won't resent you this much right now. I resent you so much that I paid close attention to Haynes Corporations because I wanted the worst for it and I hope that it wouldn't maintain it's business and go bankrupt as soon as possible. Hence, why would I help you clean up this mess?"

'Keep dreaming.'

The corner of Shayne's lips grinned like the devil. It felt cold and very sinister.

Maria gulped while her fingernails dug into her palms as she stubbornly said, "What if I beg you openly right now to help provide Haynes Corporation with some funds?"

Shayne chuckled lazily. He had a gentle look on his face but he spoke the most ruthless things in a very calm tone, "I was actually hoping that you were sincerely there to beg for my forgiveness and wanted to right your wrongs. Now it seems that I was wrong. I have underestimated how horrible a mother could treat their children."

Maria was completely frozen in her spot.

Shayne took two steps away before recalling something as he turned around and warned her, "Yanny is mine, so I suggest you do not touch her or else... I won't be too sure about what's going to happen to you and Steven."

Maria happened to be the culprit behind Yanny's smear campaign online previously.

Shayne did not intervene back then because she was still his own biological mother and he always left her some room for mercy before she did anything extreme.

Now it seemed that he would not leave her with any room for mercy anymore.
