Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1040

Shayne started driving toward the apartment at River Road.

When he came to his senses, he was already downstairs.

'How uncanny.'

He got out of the car and smoked a cigarette before going upstairs.

Cindy had already left the apartment after dealing with Yanny. When Shayne opened the door, he saw Yanny sprawled on the couch. One of her arms was on the floor.

Her face was faintly red as though she had put on makeup. Her beauty was breath-taking.

Shayne detested drunkards, especially female ones.

However, he found it hard to hate Yanny.

Shayne walked over and kicked Yanny's calf that was poking out of the couch. "Are you dead?"

It was not the first time that Yanny felt a kick while she was half-conscious.

Yanny forced her eyelids open but a flash of light blinded her. She could vaguely see a tall and slim figure in front of her. That person looked like Shayne.

'No… that can't be Shayne.'

She thought that she was hallucinating because of the alcohol.

She lifted a hand, weakly pressed it on her forehead, and sighed tiredly. "I scammed you for nine million… and now you want the money back? Heheh… It's too late… I've already spent it all."

She wanted to spend the nine million bucks on a house. Property prices in North City might be expensive, but nine million could easily buy her something nice.

After that, she could invite her grandmother to live with her.

She smiled when she thought of that.

Shayne sat down with his back facing her, though he could not resist turning around to glance at her.

Yanny was drunk, but she did not feel sleepy. She pressed one of her arms on her forehead and eyes to block the light, while rambling on drunkedly.

It was a pathetic sight.

Shayne did not want her to be so comfortable, and so he pulled away her arm that was blocking the light. "What did you do with the nine million bucks? Did you spend it all on a boy toy?" He asked fiercely.

Yanny chuckled. "I didn't spend it on a boy toy… they're all scammers…"

Shayne was relieved when he heard that. Perhaps he did not have to strangle her.

However, Yanny continued, "I'm not willing to be scammed… but… I'm happy to scam others."

Shayne stared at her like he was staring at a corpse. "How do you do that?"

Yanny brought the thin spaghetti strap of her dress down her shoulder and said smugly, "Even Shayne said that I'm beautiful… that should do it for a lot of men…"

The man's gaze on her was as cold as ice. "Then, did Shayne say that he'll kill you if you cuckold him like that?" He said through gritted teeth.

"Shayne… have I told you before… that you're a nice guy…"

Shayne was speechless as he could not believe that he had been teased by a woman.

Yanny clung onto his neck and pulled him down to the bed. They fell quite awkwardly onto the mattress.

Shayne cupped his hand over the back of Yanny's head in case her head fell onto the bedside cabinet. Yanny's gaze seemed misty because of the alcohol. She laid helplessly locked in Shayne's arms and seemed rather pitiful.

She grabbed his shirt and asked him domineeringly, "Why… Why do you mistreat me so much? I've already listened to whatever you say, so what else do you want me to do? Why must you help the Jacobs… Shayne… I told you that you can do whatever you want to me… but why must you oppose me? Why? Hm? Don't you know… that I hate… hate people who oppose me the most…"

Tears were welling in her eyes as she stared at him.

Shayne patted the back of her head. "No one's opposing you."

'At least I don't.'

Yanny brought her soft lips closer to Shayne's ear, tapped his nose bridge with her finger, and pouted. "Don't you know that you look adorable when you don't oppose me?" She said as though she was complaining.

'Adorable?'

Shayne thought that she meant lovable as in 'adorable'. He did not appreciate Yanny using that adjective to describe him.

Yanny leaned her head against his neck and closed her eyes. She was eventually overcome by fatigue and fell asleep.

For Yanny, that man who appeared in front of her with a shopping cart full of Barbie dolls deserved to be loved.
