The next day, Nina was already waiting in the living room when Diana came downstairs.
She immediately stepped forward.
"Ms. Hutton, Leon found out about you having coffee with Mr. Sandhill yesterday."
Diana frowned. "How did he find out?"
Nina shook her head. "I'm not sure, but the Sandhill family sent word this morning that Leon called them last night. Apparently, his tone was less than polite."
Diana's expression turned cold. Leon had used the Kingston family's influence to pressure the Sandhill family. He did not want the divorce, and since he could not move against her directly, he had resorted to these petty tactics behind her back.
Diana walked to the window and called Leon.
His voice came through, sounding slightly caught off guard. "Diana?"
"You're in Brimcrest?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm at the old estate. You—"
"Are you free at noon?" Diana cut him off. "Let's meet."
Leon clearly had not expected her to reach out first. He fell silent for two seconds before answering, "I'm free."
"Good. Noon. The restaurant behind the old estate."
With that, Diana ended the call. She knew Leon would never stop until he got what he wanted. Instead of letting him continue working behind her back, she would rather settle things face-to-face.
She grabbed her car keys and headed straight out.
…
By the time Diana parked outside the restaurant, Leon was already waiting at the entrance.
He wore a black coat and looked more worn than the last time she had seen him. A faint shadow of stubble darkened his jaw.
When he spotted her, he managed a smile. "Diana, you came."
She did not respond. She walked past him and went straight inside. After they were seated, she skipped the small talk and got straight to the point. "Leon, there's only one thing I came here to say today."
Leon's body stiffened slightly.
"From now on, do not interfere with who I associate with, through anyone or by any means." Her voice was calm but unmistakably firm. "Who I have coffee with, who I have dinner with, none of that is any of your business."
Leon's gaze darkened. "Diana, I just don't want someone taking advantage of you while things are unsettled."
"Taking advantage of me?" Diana let out a cold laugh. "You're the one who signed the divorce agreement. This refusal to let go, who exactly is it for?"
Her question left Leon silent for a moment.
"I'm not putting on an act." He gathered himself before speaking quietly. "I really—"
